Enjoy this amazing music I listen to while writing. :)
_______________________________________“So, how’s your project going?” asked the chubby 13-year-old, mixing his yogurt with a plastic spoon.
Madelyn sighed, “I’ve got nothing. It’s due by the end of the month and all I have is the title.” She had a history project to work on about untold or forgotten information about past tragedies or anything related to that subject.
“You have a whole month, relax. You’ll have enough time to complete it.” said the boy.
“Theo, I’m in grade 10, if they give us a month then that means it’ll take a month to do. I can’t write about one thing I need to write about multiple things. That I have zero clue about!” Madelyn argued.
He shrugged. “Whatever, I was just trying to cheer you up.”
Theodore is 3 years younger than Madelyn and always tries to be positive about situations when the time isn't right. That pissed Madelyn off a lot and plus he didn’t care about school too much, saying he’ll become a youtuber in the future and doesn’t need school for that meanwhile Madelyn, on the other hand, aimed for becoming a software developer, and cared about her education and wasn’t much of a comedian.
You could say that her, and Theodore were complete opposites. Theo is short, Madelyn is tall. He dyed his hair every month or so, she preferred her long natural silky caramel hair. He never enjoyed sports, while Madelyn was on her school track team and went to soccer camp during the summer. You get the idea.
They weren't even fully friends either. Their families are close friends and happen to be neighbors, so Madelyn and Theo didn’t have a choice but to be friends.
“You should eat at least. Can’t think with an empty stomach.” said Theo.
“Not hungry...” replied Madelyn resting her head on the school cafeteria table. The noise of all the other students chatting made her headache worse.
“How are you not hungry?! You’re like a twig. If I were you I' d be eating 5 hours a day.”
Madelyn let out a soft laugh. She was quite skinny even though she ate like any normal person would. “Like you already don’t spend 5 hours a day eating.”
“Hey! First, that’s rude, and second, I do not!” Theo exclaimed slightly hurt.
“Yeah right. Prove it”
Theo shoved his cookie wrapper into his school bag. “Fine, how about this, for the rest of week, no extra food. Only usual meals like breakfast and dinner. Deal?” He said, extending his hand forward.“Deal, but, you won't make it through a single day.” Madelyn took his hand and shook it.

At home, after flipping through more history textbooks, Madelyn slammed the books shut and stared outside her window, upset. It was dark outside, and she should be in bed, but she couldn't sleep.
Giving up on trying, she angrily grabbed her hairbrush and walked over to her full-length mirror and started brushing her hair to calm herself. Through the mirror she looked at her neat and tidy pastel pink and white room. Sure, her friends giggled at the sight of it, but she doesn’t mind. Pink is calm and joyful at the same time. It doesn’t mean girly in Madelyn’s opinion.
The room clearly showed peace and approachability. Her bed sheets were white with a fluffy light-yellow blanket on top of it, fake leafs with led lights hanging down the walls, a light pink carpet and curtains, a white desk with matching white cups full of lavender pens and pencils, multicolored sticky notes on the wall behind the desk, and a white bookshelf, all the books on it having their spines pointed out. The room was definitely welcoming and pleasing to the eye.
Lying in her bed, she decided to give the internet a chance. Scrolling through several sites hoping to find something worth taking note of. Nothing. She pondered for a few minutes then climbed out of her bed, grabbed a sticky note and one of her pens, and wrote herself a reminder to search the few libraries near her. Lucky her to have multiple libraries walking distance away from her place.
After pressing the note on the wall with the many other ones, she went back to her bed, tossing and turning for a while before she finally dozed off.
