Grace Gilbert is the younger twin sister to Elena Gilbert and older sister to Jeremy Gilbert, she was the type of girl that always would light up the room with just a smile but ever since her parents had died it had broken something inside of the girl. She had built a wall and started pushing everyone away keeping them at arms length afraid to let anyone in as she couldn't go through what she went through again when her parents died she was terrified to lose somebody else that she loves.
It was the first day of junior year, Grace used to have a plan that after she graduated from high school she would travel to New York to go to the Brooklyn academy of arts. The red headed girl had always had a passion for art and her parents was always supportive and proud of their daughter but ever since their funeral she just found everything pointless, to graduate school, one day hope that she will see her pairings hung up on the gallery for everyone to see.
Grace was selfless, bubbly, full of life, she used to always have a smile on her face but now the red headed girl looked broken and lost and wasn't that happy girl that she used to be. Grace pushed away her feelings and brought it upon herself to put her siblings first to make them happy before putting her happiness first, "toast. I can make toast" Jenna exclaimed as she was rummaging through the fridge as Elena walked into the kitchen wrapping her arms around her twin sister kissing her head and smiling slightly at the sketch of their mother as she whispered, " are you okay?"
Grace glanced up to look at her sister forcing a smile on her face and replied, "Yeah. I'm getting there, you?" The red headed girl asked as Elena nodded her head with a sigh and said, "same" Elena then un-wrapped her arms for her sister as she made her way to coffee machine and exclaimed, " it's all about the coffee, aunt Jenna" Jeremy walked into the kitchen and asked, " is there coffee?" Jenna rushed over towards her bag rummaging through as she exclaimed, " it's your first day of school, and I'm totally unprepared"
Jeremy took the two cups of coffee Elena had made handing one of them over to Grace only for Elena to scoff in disbelief narrowing her eyes at her brother Grace smirked trying to hide her smile behind her cup as Jenna walked over towards the three teenagers holding out some money, " lunch money?" Elena shook her head and assured her aunt, " I'm okay" Jeremy didn't hesitate as he took the money from Jenna hands only for Grace to snatch it off him knowing exactly what he was going to get with it and it wasn't food.
Ever since Miranda and Grayson Gilbert died, Jeremy has turned to drugs, Elena had gone writing her feelings down in her journal and Grace had pushed people away and drowned herself into her drawings wanting an escape from the real world, "Anything else? A number two pencil?" Jenna questioned packing her things in her bag, " what am I missing?" Grace looked up at her aunt as she furrowed her eyebrows and asked, " don't you have a big presentation today?"
Jenna nodded her head with a sigh looking down at her watch and exclaimed, " I'm meeting with my thesis advisor at... now. Crap" Jenna pulled her hair down rushing to gather her things as Elena sent a reassuring look at Jenna and told her, " then go. We'll be fine" Jenna smiled with a thankful look on her face before grabbing her bag and rushing out of the house once the door slammed shut behind her Elena then turned her attention to her siblings, "you okay?"
