“I am so, so, so, so, so, so…” Aaron took a deep breath “Sorry Gabe.”

“It wasn’t your fault, Jack was just being a jealous asshole” The girl sighed.

If fucking up your own love-life wasn’t enough, you had to go around and fuck the others. Way to go, Ramsey.

“Is he mad at me?” He had to ask. He could hear Gabriela mumbling something.

“No mate, it’s fine.” Wilshere replied with a laugh “It’s just that… Can’t you guys be friendly when I’m around?” Aaron smiled and after a little fight for the phone, Gabe’s voice was back “He’s a jerk. But anyway, aren’t you supposed to pick up Rachel at nine?”

“How… How do you know that?” He raised an eyebrow, a little scared.

“Mate, we’re like God, you know? Omnipresent, omniscient or whatever they call it. We know everything.” Jack said, and Aaron could hear Gabe cursing him on the background “But wait, if you think about it… So is Gossip Girl. I mean…”

“Give the phone back to Gabe, Jack” Aaron laughed, running his fingers through his hair and walking over to the closet “So, what should I wear?”

“Do I sound like I know?” Mocked Jack “Fine, fine, here, talk to her. See you in practice on Monday, mate”

“He’ll never grow up, will he?”He could hear Gabe sighing.

“I’m going to take care of two kids at the young age of twenty one” She said dramatically and Aaron laughed “Look, I gotta go, Jack’s on the kitchen and only God knows what might happen. Whatever you wear, you’ll look great.”

“I know that” Replied Aaron smugly “Good luck with Jack”

“Good luck with Rachel.” Gabe said, taking a deep breath “Aaron just… Look out okay? For your sake.”

Aaron just stood there, phone in hand, staring at himself on the mirror, an eyebrow raised. Why would Gabe say that?

 “Okay”

 “Good. Talk to you later.”

 —

Aaron was a type of man that was in extinction.

That was Rachel’s first thought as he opened the car door, giving the key to a valet and guiding her over to the club. She knew Mahiki – who didn’t? – And the idea of ever entering there was something that would only happen on her wildest dreams.

Now there she was, locked arms with Aaron Ramsey – wearing a white button up, a blazer and a pair of washed up jeans -, entering the sumptuous club.

“I thought we could have some drinks before we start the night” Aaron said on her ear as they walked through the crowded sidewalk full of tourists and overdressed celebrity-hunting people. A sudden flash came on her eyes and she had to blink a few times until she could see again.

Before her vision got used to the first flash, it was flooded by another, and another, and another…

She held into Aaron’s arm tighter, aware that her every single move was being captured by the horde of paparazzo’s that were waiting in front of Mahiki. Rachel wore a tight dress with a cheetah print that had ¾ sleeves and a round neckline, the higher heels she could find and a light make-up. She only hoped the photos made justice to her.

 Please, make me look good.

“I’m so sorry” Aaron whispered a bit embarrassed as Mahiki’s security helped them.
