Chapter 15 [War for Remnant]

The Battle had begun, With Alex leading Valor team and 100 other men under his command.

Their objective was to secure one of the main roads to Atlas, with Tank support from the 42nd Tank Battalion, which then Seth commandeered a tank platoon.

The Battle was no pushover either, the enemy fought like beasts, and they took the city's infrastructure to their advantage, with Banished Forces fighting for every nook and cranny of this damned city.
They were losing men, no, they weren't killed, they were given concussions and some went unconscious by the enemy's usage of rubble.

But they were inching forward, closer and closer to their inevitable victory.

The rubble filled streets, were doused with blood enemy bodies were piling up, as some of them threw themselves at the Soldiers in an act of desperation.

They could feel the desperation in the enemy.
Then, it just went worse for the enemy.

Black Companies were deployed.

Black Companies were shock troops and undoubtedly were viscous in combat, it was where the actual Psychopaths, Sociopaths and Madmen were sent to, if they decided to join the army, instead of going to an insane asylum or put on a frontier colony that's on the edge of Banished space.

And they were unleashed, Nicknamed the Devil Hounds by their adversaries, in past conflicts, they were extremely brutal

Alex focused on a building down the road, that pinned his forces.

"That wasn't on the map, Seth! See that mall down the road?"

"Yeah?"

"I don't want to."

"Roger that!"

The lead tank zoomed down the road for a better view of the makeshift fortress.

The railgun charged up and a High Explosive round was put in the chamber of the cannon.

"Everybody, heads down! Hyper Charged round AWAY!"

BOOM!

The tank itself shuddered and it sent a large sound and the round left the chamber through the railgun, which the energy was transferred onto the shell, and it left the barrel in high-speeds.

And once it hit the mall down the road a large explosion that could be seen from the edge of the town, was created, where a makeshift fortress was located, a crater took it's place.

"Keep up the pressure! Push them back!"
Alex ordered to his men.

Then his forces started applying pressure to the enemy's weak points.

Alex pulled out an active map of the Battle, with the lines that are clearly defined, the shadow company had more gains in the middle, The Main road. they acted as an arrowhead to their forces.

Phase 1 of the Battle was done, when the eastern and the western flank, finally met up in the road hub to Atlas, entrapping thousands of armed combatants in what's left of the city, The defender's main base The City Hall was in the middle of this pocket, With Alex's detachment just a few blocks away, they raced to the City Hall, Only to find it a fortress, The Militia had a firm grip on the building and with orders coming from up high, to take the City Hall, right then and there, He obliged, and once he broke the news to his Men which had lots of Banished from Atlas, cheered.

It was brutal, like the Battle as a whole, they had to take every single building and city block on their way to the City Hall, and it called for Close Quarters Combat, it was chaos, the Defenders used their expertise of the city to their advantage and Alex's men who hadn't been in Mantle for over 2 to 3 years, got confused and got lost.
