A/N: I'm pretty excited about the next few chapters because they explain more about the dynamic between Tallulah and Adam. We've already seen some of their history through her eyes and now we're going to see what was going on in Adam's head.❤️
The song is what I imagine to be playing near the end so I'll add music notes when you should start it if you want to do it that way.

Adam's POV Present Day:

Holding Lu in my arms after so long and looking down at her pale face as I wipe at it with a towel while we pull into the parking garage I feel a sense of satisfaction. I found her. I got her.

She's a little worse for the wear, a dark bruise already formed just below her hair line above her temple, blood from the arm that I wrapped tightly in my jacket to stop the bleeding is smeared over her clothes and skin along with dirt from the driveway. But I got her. And she's just as beautiful as ever.

Finally.

Flashback- Adam's POV 18 years old

"That sounds like a date," Lu says, quirking up one of her eyebrows like she does whenever she thinks someone is being stupid or trying to get one over on her. I don't know which category I fall under at the moment.

I've noticed that she's a very suspicious person. She doesn't take anyone's word for anything and has a tendency to analyze every situation and every word to find a trap. Like she's doing right now.

"It's not. I have some business to take care of there and you seem like the rollercoaster type," I assure with a shrug.

It's true. Fairs travel frequently and they're a decent way to move more product discreetly. Tonight I need to have words with the guy who owns most of the fair that's visiting. I figured I'd take Lu with, show her a good time, and get my dick wet.

"I've never been on a rollercoaster," she shrugs, taking a hit off the joint. She's fucking chronic and I don't know how she manages to tie her own shoes, let alone think and act as quickly as she does. It's supposed to slow your reaction timing, but she doesn't seem to suffer from that very often.

"Really? Scared of heights?" I tease.

She doesn't seem the type to be scared of heights, but then again I'm not the type to tease or bring a chick to the fair before I fuck her. Surprisingly, I actually enjoy Lu's company. So much so that I actually seek her out when I'm in town. And I can't help but tease her. She's entertaining.

"Not at all. I like heights, actually. I've just never been to the fair."

That surprises me less than the thought of her actually being afraid of a good time. Especially one that promises to get your adrenaline pumping. Wherever she came from, it was a life of poverty. Not that I particularly care- just an observation that explains why she's never been to a fair.

"Well let's go, then," I gesture to my Mustang.

"Fine," she shrugs like she's not interested but I can see a little spark in her eyes as she pushes herself off the fence behind the school. Just a little one, though.

Lu is all about a good time but it's rare to see her actually enjoy one. It's a strange contradiction- someone who's so active and full of life but who's obviously dying inside. I don't know if it's because of where she came from or the fact that she was taken. Given her insistence that she's been kidnapped, I'd say it's the latter.
