"I'm sure she'll be stoked!" I heard my mom say from the other room. I jumped up happily and ran into the kitchen. In my excitement, I knocked over the chair I was sitting in, got my feet tangled in the legs, and toppled to the floor. The chair crashed down on top of me and I yelped. Leroy, our dachshund, dashed over to me and started licking my face. My mom popped her head around the kitchen doorway and started to narrate the thoughts of Leroy like she loved to do. Her voice slipped lower and she enunciated her words.
"I heard you yell and so I came so I could help you and I know that you love me when I like your face so I'm going to lick you until you feel better, do you feel better?"
I laughed as I shoved Leroy out of the way. I picked him up and gave him a scratch on his head. He attempted to lick me again, but I narrowly escaped his tongue.
"I love how all of his sentences don't have pauses. He sounds like a doofus!"
Mom covered Leroy's ears and whispered, "He is!"
I chuckled and put him down. "So, Mrs. Libby said yes? About Callie, I mean."
"Yeah! I had to really talk her into it, though. Callie has a swim meet tomorrow. She said that you two have to go to sleep. I'm going to hold you to that. Ok?"
I gave her an evil looking smile. "Yes, of course mother dearest."
She didn't laugh, she just raised her eyebrow. I groaned.
"Ok, ok, we'll go to sleep."
"At what time?"
My plan discovered, I defeatedly said, "8:45."
She smiled, having won her battle. "Good. Why don't you walk down to Callie's house and help her pack."
I grinned and bounded to the front door to slip my Vans on.
"Bye!" I called as I closed the door behind me. This was going to be good.

Normally, when I go to Callie's house, I let her know that I'm coming. This was not one of those times. I knew that their front door is always unlocked when someone is there. I opened it and walked in. Mrs. Libby saw me coming and waved. She was about to call upstairs to let Callie know I was here, but I put my finger over my lips. She smiled when she figured out what I was going to do. Callie came out of her room and went into the bathroom. I walked into her room carefully, trying not to make any noise. I quietly slipped over to her bed and picked up a magazine that was lying on the floor. I got comfortable on her bed and opened the magazine. I was surprised by what I saw. The front page read,
VENUS VONCLEAVE SEARCHES FOR SOMEONE TO WRITE HER BIOGRAPHY
Millionaire superstar Venus VonCleave has decided she wants a biography for herself. Doing a gracious thing, Venus stated that she want to offer a young child writer the chance to do it. She has asked sixteen year old Quinn Dawson to come and live with her for a month. She is still waiting for an answer.
I sat there, my mouth hanging open. A billion thoughts were racing through my head. They were interrupted when I heard a high pitched scream. I smiled when I realized that Callie had walked in the room. I lowered the magazine and grimaced.
