Falling was Hell. Literally.
Percy wasn't sure how much time had passed since he had let go of the ledge, sending him and his girlfriend, Annabeth into this state of free fall. If Annabeth could read Percy's mind, she might have told him that they weren't actually in free fall and something about gravity.
Percy kind of wished that Annabeth could read his mind and say something cute about gravity. If only science was the worst of their problems. Unfortunately, Percy, Annabeth and their friends were wrapped up in shit storm of mythological family drama. At the time of the fall- which felt like years ago- Percy had basically been on a magical road trip to Greece with six of his cousins- one of which was his girlfriend- in a suicide mission to keep his great-grandmother from waking up. His dad's side of the family was messed up.
These were the things Percy tried not to think about (and ultimately ended up thinking about) as he fell to his imminent death.
The whistling air of their descent was too loud to talk over, although Percy doubted that this would be the best time to make small talk. He almost wished they would hit the bottom of this pit soon, because this waiting was torture. On the other hand, their impact would probably hurt- a lot.
Percy wondered if-
His thought was cut off by sudden light and the realization that he was lying down on an ice-cold concrete floor. Blinking, Percy glanced around the small room. There heavy-looking door in the middle of the wall that he was facing. All of the other walls were blank and Annabeth wasn't there.
