Did it seem a little ridiculous to be doing curfew checks after years and years of hard work? Yes. Did it seem demeaning to tell the person who had stopped multiple Crime Lords to go make sure no one was out past eight? Perhaps. But truly, Kyra didn't mind.

Having spent years to work to the position of a Lieutenant among the Emperor's Knights and years after that working on multiple cases, this was relaxing. It was muscle memory. It was simple.

The rain softly pounded on the windshield. The street light illuminating the area just enough to ensure safety. The likelihood of being killed in action here was very small. In a way it was nice to not have to worry about dying.

She scoffed at that last thought, a little sadistic perhaps. Turning to other thoughts she turned the radio up a few ticks. Rock music softy played from it, and she looked at the time as another song came on.

14:37.

It was nearing midnight. Time worked differently here than on Earth. On the planet Atlas, midnight was considered the hour 30, unless the clock was set to Standard time, then 15 at night.

Whoever was driving this transport last needs to be taught how to read the time. She thought to herself. Her fingers tapped rhythmically to the song.

"Attention transports 3, 9, and 0, please return to the main base for shift change. I repeat, transports 3, 9, and 0 return for shift change."

As the radio transmission cut out Kyra made her way back to the station. It was rather early for a regular shift change and she wondered if there was some purpose behind it.

She walked up the stair of the main base, located in the center of town. It was a large, capital-like building. It didn't take away from the Palace, however, and was rarely ever visited by common-folk.

She shook off the rain as she entered the room. Officers of the Red and Gold squad were exiting the building to leave for Sata. Today was the last day of the month, meaning certain troops would switch out from the other planet.

Though Sata had a different government, in a treaty Atlas exchanged some of their military for unity with Sata. There were other secret terms to the deal, but that was all that was made public about the entire treaty.

That was in the past, a hundred-fifty years into the past. Besides, the three allied planets did a lot for each other and there was no sense in fixing what wasn't broke.

Officer Finley greeted Kyra from the front desk, "Lieutenant West, Commander Carlson is waiting for you in his office, says it's urgent."

Kyra nodded, "Thank you, Officer."

Finley nodded, and as Kyra walked away he said, "Oh! One more thing."

She turned back towards him and he continued, "This came for you."

A signed and sealed letter was handed to her. She raised her brows, "Thank you, do you know who it's from?"

"No clue."

She stuck it her pocket, and said goodbye to Finley as she went towards the stairs. Whatever this urgent message was about she should've been contacted, not waited on. She hardly met anyone on her way to the main office.

She knocked and was immediately let into Commander Carlson's office. He was the leader of the Emerald Squad. Emperor's Knights had five different leagues, all based off different purposes. There was Emerald, Diamond, Gold, Red, and Silver. Emerald League typically handled secret operations or infiltration projects.

"Sit down."

"What's going on, sir, you said it was urgent."

"I am aware. Earlier we received a message claiming that the some would end life on all planets in three weeks, but we now believe it to be just a spam message."
