Chapter 3

I'VE HEARD an opening sound from my door's office and I looked up to see who's the person behind of it.

"You're here again, Kali--- Ma!"

It's my Mom. I thought it was Kalina because she's the only person who don't know how to knock and just intrude herself here in my office.

"I'm sorry if I didn't knock first, anak. I wanted to surprise you actually and already told your secretary not to inform you that I am coming. I guess you're really quite busy on these days."

Nakangiting pahayag ni Mama sa akin. 

Kaagad naman akong lumapit sa kaniya at saka hinagkan ang pisngi nito. And it's true that I am quite busy within these days because I'm going to open two another branches of my botique.

"It's really fine, Ma. Sadyang akala ko lang talaga na si Kalina ang pumasok kasi she's the only person who trespass without leaving a notice from my secretary."

Natatawa kong sagot kay Mama.

"That girl really."

Sabi rin ni Mama na natatawa.

"I've heard from her yesterday that the two of you went out. How about your first anniversary then? Didn't you celebrate it with Zeejikiel?"

Kasunod na tanong ni Mama sa akin. 

Bumuntong hininga muna ako bago nagsalita. 

Actually alam naman talaga ni Mama na hindi masaya ang relasyon namin ni Zeejikiel hanggang ngayon, but she's hoping for us to unite as one someday. In fact my mother was the person who really got angry with me after I've done those things. She was displeased and asked me why did I do that and this, to think na it's really a bad thing to manipulate and betrayed a certain person. Hindi niya lubos maisip kung bakit nagawa ko ang mga bagay na iyon. And because of that ay nagawa niyang magalit sa kaniyang sarili maybe for the reason that she lacked a guidance for her only daughter.

Tagos sa puso ko ang mga sinabi ni Mama sa akin noon. Pero wala na rin siyang nagawa pa dahil we already got married after I've spilled everything to her at kay Papa.

"We celebrated it, Ma. Surprisingly we had an intimate dim light dinner lang."

Pagsisinungaling ko kay Mama. Hindi ko alam kung naniwala ba siyang talaga.

"You think you can fool a PhD IN Psychology, Saharrie?"

I'm fooling myself, I forgot my mother is a renowned professional psychologist in a hospital which my family owned also. Actually, that hospital is from my family's mother side that up until now she's been working with.

"Ma, do you think it's my karma? Do you think it's the consequence of what I've done before?"

I asked my mother with a low toned voice.

"You really have to pay the price for it, Saharrie. Alam mo naman sa sarili mo kung ano iyong nagawa mong kasalanan hindi ba? And I don't really want to tolerate the actions you've been done before. But since you've reached this far, all you need to do is to exert some efforts so that he will love you back. Naniniwala akong matututunan ka rin niyang mahalin. You know that magic happens when you do not give up right? Even though you wanted to. The universe always falls in love with a stubborn heart, sweetie."

I nodded after what my mother said.

"Ma, I'm not going to give up because I know that the beginning is just the hardest part of it and I always do believe that he will love me back. So I'll just gather all my courage and dedicate myself to him as his wife."
