Bella's POV - recap

As I am thinking this, I see Sue rush past me and swing the door open to reveal a very pissed off Charlie Swan, his face red and a stern glare marring his normally calm expression. Without waiting for Sue to stay anything, Charlie pushes past her and walks into the living room only to see me still laying on the sofa with my obvious new accessories that are upon my back.

Moving my head to look up towards him, I am meet with a shocked and confused expression along with a fine impression of a goldfish. Charlies mouth continued to open and close as we all watch the gears turning in his head, it took a couple of minutes before he did anything.

He ran his hand over his face and released a sigh of what sounded like exhaustion "I should have known something like this would happen someday, but wings! Really!" He said grumbling to himself before taking his hand away from his face and looking at me closely.

"So, it looks like we both have a bit of explaining to do, huh dad?" I said to Charlie with a slight chuckle to my tone, but Charlie only nodded at me while continuing to look at my wings.

Bella's POV

The room has been left in an awkward silence since Charlie turned up, no one wanted to speak first, and everyone was confused as to what Charlie meant when he walked in. Sue and Leah sat on the other side of the room as I was still taking up the main sofa with my wings and now fully grown form.

Charlie was leaning against the far wall, his head down and a hand running through his hair while grumbling to himself. His shoulders slumped further as he looked around at all of us a thoughtful look on his face, as his eyes landed on me, I could see that he showed no negative reaction to my new appearance and he showed me a small smile when looking at my wings.

"Charlie, I know it was wrong to keep you away from Bella but as you can see, we had a pretty serious reason for our actions" Sue said to Charlie with an apologetic look on her face, credit to Charlie as he just nodded at Sue and made his way over to sit next to her. It was the free seat left in the room.

"Now that I understand the situation, I can also understand your actions, but I will say, never keep my daughter away from ever again. Am I clear?" his voice was firm and left no room for arguing, Leah and Sue both nod their heads in understanding.

Looking over at Charlie again as he had started to fidget and I was becoming impatient waiting for him to explain "so dad, why aren't you surprised at these???" I said pointing at my wings and a sceptical look on my face, unsure as to why he was not currently freaking out and screaming in fear.

Rubbing the back of his neck Charlie huffed before speaking "well me and your mother never spoke of your birth as we wouldn't believe it ourselves if we hadn't been there and saw it. Me and Renee had gone for a walk in the forest that day as it was one of forks sunnier days. We were a good way in when I had tripped over what we thought at the time was a rock, but when I tripped, I had taken the overgrowth with me revealing a blue and white surface. At a closer inspection we had dug out a large egg from the ground."

As Charlie spoke the rest of us looked very confused, none of this sounded real but the same can be said about the supernatural world. "We had no idea what to do, the egg itself looked like it was still intact sans a few cracks that were healing right in front of our eyes. We decided to take the egg home, it took the both of us to even carry it, placing it in the spare room of our home we checked on it over the next couple of weeks. Seeing no changes, we came to the idea that whatever was inside was probably dead, couple days after we came to this thought we started to hear cracking coming from the room. By the time we got there we found you, as a baby, laying and crying in the now hollow egg. At the time your eyes had flashed green and your arms were covered in white scales and they were both gone, your eyes faded to the brown they are now. The next day we reported you as an abandoned and said we would adopt you."
