First Day

My dreams were finally coming true. Today is my first day at the biggest law firm in the country. I get out of my bed quickly making it and heading to the bathroom.  I start the water for a shower and take my pajamas off. I step into the warm shower and allow the water to rush over my face. I wash my hair and body and step out wrapped myself in a fluffy towel around me. I slide on my shirt and underwear for work. I make my way towards the kitchen and make myself breakfast. I have a breakfast of french toast, sausage, and fruit.

By the time I cleaned up and finished eating, I had forty-five minutes before I had to leave for work. I walk back to the bathroom and slide my pantyhose on over my legs, followed by my skirt. I blow dry the remaining moisture out of my hair. I take a pin and pin the top half of my hair out of my face. My hair was naturally very curly and it was long. Keeping it out of the way was best. I do a little bit of natural make-up. Browns and golds on my eyes, mascara, rose-tinted chapstick, and a little blush. I look at the time and grab my bag and jacket draping them over my shoulders. I side my ankle boots on and leave locking my apartment door.

I get in my car and push the start button. I could feel my stomach tying itself in knots. My first day at my first job after school. My nerves grow as I pass building after building. I have no reason to anxious. I earned this job. I have my office number and I know to go see my boss before going to my office.

I park my car in the spot number they assigned to me and make my walk inside. I take a deep breath as I get ready to walk in the large glass doors.  My boss's office is on the 7th floor, room 734. I walk up to the elevator and lightly press the button with the up arrow causing it to illuminate. A few seconds later a man walks up beside me also waiting for the elevator.

Jimin: "Hi, I don't recognize you, you must be new. My name is Park Jimin, I am a paralegal under Mr. Kim here."

As he introduced himself and put his hand out for me to shake I couldn't help, but bring in every detail I could about the man. He looked almost innocent. He was probably four inches taller than me but I'm in heels so maybe one and a half right now. He had fluffy blond hair and very kind eyes. He was wearing a dark dusty red-colored suit and a black tie. He dressed very well.

"I am new today is actually my first day. My name is Hyun Hayoon. I am going to be a paralegal here as well. I am not sure who under, I am supposed to go to his office to introduce myself."

As I finished my sentence I heard the small bell that indicates the elevator was on our floor. We both step on and I push the button with the number seven on it.

"What floor, Mr. Park."

Jimin: "Seven and please call me Jimin. Trust me we will be getting close if you are under Mr. Kim as well."

As I watch the number on the screen grow larger and larger, closer and closer to seven, I feel as though my stomach jumped into my throat.  I stepped off as the doors opened and begin to look for room 734. I found the office and the door was open so I stepped in.

I see a woman sitting at a desk with a few chairs that look as though they would be in a waiting room. The room had paintings hung on the walls and a few plants and flowers to liven up the room. She had straight black hair that cascades down just past her shoulders. She had dark wise eyes. She appeared to be in her early to mid-thirties. She was quite pretty.

"Hello, I am Hyun Hayoon, I am was told to come to room 734 to meet my boss. Today is my first day with the company as a paralegal."

Receptionist: "Hi I am his receptionist, I will tell him you are here feel free to sit until he is ready for you."

I hear her click a few buttons on the telephone and I walk to look at a few of the paintings in the room. They were beautiful. I don't recognize the signature on them though. A few moments later I hear the door I saw behind the woman open and I swung around to see a man standing there. He had medium brown hair and deep colored eyes. His eyes were captivating. He had a thin face and a softer jawline but it was still prominent. He smiled at me causing dimples to appear. He towered over me. I took a few steps towards.

Namjoon: "You must be Hyun Hayoon, the new paralegal. I am Kim Namjoon. Come into my office and we will talk."

I followed him into his office and he closed the door behind us. He sat in his chair gesturing for me to sit in the one in front of his desk.

Namjoon: "Since you are the newest paralegal, for a while you will most likely receive the worse end of the job. I don't care so please don't complain. Everyone was you at one point. You will refer any questions you have to Mr. Park. If he has questions he can bring them to me. Secondly, do not turn in paperwork late. You may stay late to finish if you must, but paperwork cannot be late under any circumstance. If documents are turned in late you will be placed on probation. Third, romantic relationships and sexual relationships of any kind are strictly prohibited in this company. If that is too difficult for you you may leave now. That is a rule that was strictly put in place by my partner and I. Finally, the partners in this firm, myself included, work very hard. Meaning if we are not here you are not to call us for any reason if we are off, excluding the building being on fire, a client having a serious emergency, and if you have money or food for us. Are the rules of the position clear?

He stopped waiting for a response. I nod my head and he continues.

Namjoon: "Your office is room 718. You are allowed to decorate it to your hearts content, however any religious ideas are prohibited to prevent any unpleasant altercations. Mr. Park is in room 723 if you need anything, go to him. He will instruct you on what to do with your day. We have meetings once a week every week, Tuesday morning at 9 am do not be late. I lock the door right at 9. If you need into the meeting after the door is locked, you better have 3 dozen donuts and I will consider letting you in. Welcome to the company, I hope you enjoy your time here."

I know he said he hoped I enjoyed my time here but he sounded like the sooner I left the better.

"Thank you, Mr. Kim."

I left the room and looked for my office. I can already tell this is going to be an adventure. For one my boss looks like he was sculpted by God. So does my supervisor. It is only my first day and I am terrified and still feel sick to my stomach.

What a dream come true.
