The Unseen Eavesdropper

The radiant sun outside shone onto us. Hector held me against the wall. The cool breeze passed through the narrow distance from our faces. He was so close, bringing his lips closer and closer to mine. Soon I was closing my eyes, expecting the warmth of his kiss.

"Dongsaeng!" I opened my eyes to Noona's familiar voice. Hector jumped from in front of me and to my side. I twisted my neck to see her coming outside. "There you are. I saw you come outside with-" she stopped when she saw Hector as he waved confidently at her and grabbed my hand gently. He smiled and she smiled back.

"Hey." He said softly with his rich and soft not-too-deep voice. I've always thought his voice would sound so cute and I was right.

"Hey." She replied. "What're are ya doing out here?" She asked with a trick to her smile like she already knew why we were out here alone side by side, hand in hand hidden on my side.

Hector surprisingly held our entangled hands out to where she could see. Her smile widen with surprise too like mine before she slapped her hand over her mouth.

"I was gonna ask Drew out." he told her. My skin jumped at the sound of him saying my name. I didn't know that he even knew my name.

"Yes!" I exclaimed.

"Finally!" Noona added.

"Huh?" I asked still looking at Hector. Then it clicked. "Wait!" Now I turned to look at her. "You told him didn't you?" I asked her half angry yet half thankful. She smiled triumphantly and slyly. I had been telling her about Hector since that track meet when we first saw him. So apparently she had made the move for me.

"Dongsaeng, I know you didn't want me to tell him but that's all you ever talk about, him and how you really liked him. That and... Her voice trailed off when I gave her the eyes, a signal for here to stop talking.

Before I even knew about Hector, I had the same hottest crush on a really attractive asian boy named Kai. He "was" the hottest guy I've ever met, with an athletic body too. I could've sworn he liked me the same way when he would look me straight, or in this case gay, in the eyes and I would feel his inner self calling out to my inner self. Just like now with Hector, I used to tell Noona everything that was on my mind about Kai like how I would see him everywhere and it was torturing me because we weren't going anywhere. Well I did talk to him once. His random and hurtful response was "I'm engaged." My hopes and heart shattered when those words touched my eardrums and like a really caring friend my brain told me what he had just said. Taking his obvious hint I gave up on him and since have been trying to get over him which brings me to crush on Hector.

"If it wouldn't have been for Danni here I would've never have known for sure that you liked me and I wouldn't have gotten the courage to talk to you." Hector added. His fingers between mine and his palm against mine felt warmer than I can explain in just its physical properties.

"You're welcome." She said to the both of us. "I'm going to go ahead and head to my room." She said and then spun like a girl from America's Next Top Model and left Hector and I alone again.

As soon as she disappeared around the corner Hector jumped back in front of me.

"This isn't over," he smiled and I couldn't help but smile back. "lets meet up again later after I go change. How's the beach sound?" He asked and I giggled awkwardly, nodding. "That way I can ask you something the right way." He lingered in front of me for a while longer and I took in his sexiness with my eyes every second before he peeled himself from off of me and walked away slowly. The further he got the more difficult it was to, playfully, hold onto his hand and and soon our fingers unzipped and he disappeared around the corner after Noona.

That was great. I couldn't have been more excited and relieved and energized yet so weak. However little did I realize who was eavesdropping on our little conversation the whole time...Kai...
