"You have to go to school."
I stared at Gerard for a second. I heard him wrong, right? Those words didn't come out of his mouth, right?
I had an irrational fear of school. When I was in my old pack, every time I went to school, I bled. A lot. Okay, maybe my irrational fear wasn't that irrational.
"I- I..." Don't tell him. Don't tell him. "Okay."
He narrowed his eyes at me, obviously sensing something wrong. Before I could turn away, he wrapped his surprisingly large hands around my arms, forcing me to face him.
"What's wrong?" He didn't really ask me, he just demanded it. I rolled my eyes and pulled away, storming from the room.
On my way to my room, right next to his (that's what was behind the stupid door), I slammed into someone small. We both fell back and when I looked up I met the eyes of Alice. But... weren't her eyes gray?
"Uh, Alice, why are your eyes black?" Her eyes had turned from their warm gray to a black that blended with her pupils. Her face flushed at my question, and her eyes suddenly turned sky blue.
"Er- medical condition," She explained quickly, "Werewolf one. It's called kreilioni, I think. My eyes change with my emotions. I'll give you a quick rundown. honey, normal, light blue, embarrased, black, scared, violet, love, which only happens with my family because I haven't found my mate, white, annoyed, dark blue, happy, red, hungry, for some weird reason, gray, worried hazel, tired, dark brown-"
"I thought you said it'd be a quick rundown?" I rubbed my forehead tiredly as I stood and helped her up. Her eyes flashed gray before I grinned at her, and they turned a light blue.
"Welcome to the weird eye club, population 2." We both laughed at my bad joke, and when she looked back at me her eyes were dark blue.
"I have to talk to the Alpha, but we can talk later, okay?" She said, and I nodded before she darted away.
I trudged to my room and fell onto my bed, face first, somehow falling asleep without a heavy drug.

I grunted at whoever thought it was a good idea to wake me up. Too tired to mind-link, I opened my mouth instead.
"Go get the great Raven a rare breed of unicorn, then come back." I groaned, refusing to move. I heard a deep chuckle and then I was flipped over onto my back, facing the bright light.
"No! The agony!" I threw an arm over my eyes and rolled back over, burying my face into the pillows.
"School starts today, Div," Gerard said, his voice full of affection and void of any sympathy.
"I haven't been to school in 5 years, and I refuse to start now!" I declared into the pillow, still not moving.
I felt his glare on my back, and then two hands wrapped around my ankles.

I glared out the window, grumbling, as we pulled up to the school.
"Why do you get to stay at the pack house?" I demanded, kicking the seat of his car. He winced, but otherwise gave me no attention, his full focus on the road. He had tried to hold me hand, but I was officially ignoring him then, so he gave up after a while.
"Because I've already graduated. I'm 21, you know." He informed me, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. Juniper purred at the thought of having an older man as a mate, but I was mortified. He was 5 years older than me! Granted, my birthday was a few days away, but I wasn't telling him that.
Tell him, Juniper commanded, slight hope creeping into her voice.
Ha. No.
"Why do you get to be twenty one?" I growled, hitting my forehead against the cool glass of the window. He rolled his eyes as he pulled into a parking lot. I shrunk back, wrapping my arms around my legs, and ducked my head.
Gently, but forcefully, Gerard lifted my head, making me look up at the horrid school. He looked slightly annoyed, but more worried than anything.
"Really, Div, what's so bad about school?" He said in an irritated voice, but then froze when he saw my face. It was frozen in a mask of horror as I stared at the school, at the entrance.
"I-I..." I trailed off as I watched people shuffle lazily in and out of the school building. None of them looked threatening, and I could easily kill someone if they looked at me, but I was still scared.
"It'll be okay, Div, I promise. If something happens, just tell Lace or Alice, she's my Beta, and I'll be here in a second. Okay?" He grinned at me, making my heart skip a beat, and I hated myself for being so soft.
"Okay," I said softly, and climbed out of the car, my long legs struggling for a second before I got out, and I slammed the door much harder than necessary. Gerard winced from inside as I walked slowly towards the school.
Someone slammed into me, obviously on purpose, and before they could walk away, I stuck my foot out and tripped them. He fell flat on his face and I stepped on his back, digging my heel into his spine before continuing on.
The most reassuring thing I heard before I stepped inside was Gerard's booming laugh as he drove away.

The picure is of Alice. She is Beta, yes, but isn't super close to Gerard. Beta's go by lineage, and she was an only child and next in line. Okay? Okay.
She's so beautiful! Anyways, sorry that this chapter is boring, but just wanted a layed-back chapter for now. Next chapter will be more interesting, I swear.
'L word' you guys!
