Ex; The change has been brought on by a confluence of factors.

"Hey! Hey!" Says a girl running towards me. I make out the figure of Asuga. I keep walking with my head down.

"Hey! Levi d-don't ignore me! I know you saw me!" Asuga yells some more. She is gaining on me quickly. I start to walk fast to not have to speak to her.

Suddenly, she speeds up and barrels towards me. I do a quick slip of my feet at the last second so she goes tumbling over to where I was walking previously.

"Ouch! Did you have to do that!" She yelps, "Now I have got a face full of dirt!" She spits out a little soil at me but it stops at my feet.

I can't help but crack a t e e n y smile. "You're the one who ran at me, thin bean."

She gets up and leaps at me before I have time to move. She punches my arm weakly.

"AHA- CAN YOU FEEL THE PAIN- MWAHAHA-" She shouts in my ear. I grab her arm and gently push her away.

"I can smell the dirt on you," I say, scrunching my face slightly.

No, literally.

She huffs and pulls back from me.

"So you don't want me to tell you about this pretty, young and talented new girl that is getting put into recruit training, then. Seems like a lost opportunity... especially as you could already know her name and sound informed and superior and other man stuff..." She says, obviously trying to annoy me.

"I couldn't care less about women," I mutter at her.

"Did you not hear the last bit! It'll make you sound clever and like you know everything about everyone- creepy! That's the word! You give off creepy vibes." She says to me with a mocking voice.

I shake my head. "I honestly couldn't care less. And, you are in my way. Move weirdo."

"Ugh! Whatever. You just carry on doing... whatever you were doing." She huffs and goes to turn around but stops mid-way. She then nudges me and when I look to the right I can understand why she's so scared.

Commander Erwin was standing over her, his eyes gleaming with seriousness.

"O-o-oh h-hey Captain!" Asuga blurts before slamming her arms into the salute position- which I do too, just for good measure.

"I d-didn't see ya there!" Asuga yelps. "Lovely weather isn't it!"

"Well, if it's that nice, why don't you go tend to the horses," Erwin says. Asuga nods and scampers off into the distance.

"That sounded more like a command, rather than a question, Erwin," I say, looking up at him.

He blinks once and continues his stare.

"Well, if you don't need anything, I have better things to do," I say, moving to turn and walk away from the uncomfortable setting. As I turn, Erwin grabs my shoulder and leans close- enough to make me feel his warm breath on my neck.

"Keep an eye on the new scouts. A few of them need... disciplining."

I scoff and shake his hand off of my shoulder. " So you want me to babysit them? I thought that was a captain's job."
