My was as glad as birds.
I felt as though I could soar. Break through the stratosphere...literally. I could feel my feet lifting off the ground, just the tiniest bit, hovering just millimetres off the surface of the pavement.
It's a funny thing. Love, relief, freedom. Funny what it can do to you.
I knew, that in due course, my feet would fly higher, bringing me along with them, and I would be able to fly again. I'd been forced down, and since that day, my feet have been stuck on the ground. I haven't felt this light in decades.
But I knew the day would come, and that day is today. My heart is glad. And I am able to fly again – no matter how little I actually can hover. I am becoming unstuck.
And it's only a matter of time. Only a matter of time before I am able to rejoin them.
I only hope that they've waited for me, as I have for them.
