Logan plopped his bags down in Lilah's front room with a huge smile on his face. He was happy to be in Connecticut again, for many reasons. Mostly because of Emily though, the young man was excited to see her again. She had brought a small pebble of joy in his life that ended up growing to be a large boulder. To be frank, he didn't want to wait until the next day to see her but he knew he had to at least spend some of his trip with his cousin. After all, Lilah did open up her house to him.

"You should read this," Lilah said, shoving a piece of paper to his chest.

       "What is it?"

"Emily's last letter. She was going to mail it to you but chickened out, she'll kill me when she finds out I stole it from her car for you to read, it but it will be worth it," She grinned.

       "What do you mean-"

"Just read the stupid letter Logan."

                 Dear Logan,

I hope this letter is going to find you in good health, I'll see you in a few days. I know you won't see this  letter before you get here but you will for sure afterwards. I like you, kind of a lot you see. I was never really nice to you in the beginning but you stuck around and eventually I began to care for you. I think I realized that I liked you around the time I passed out. Afterwards I would get excited when I saw your letters in my mailbox. My stomach would twist up in knots and I would lay awake for hours just thinking about them. Anyway, i should go now. Lilah needs some help cleaning a room for you in her apartment.

            Love,

                    Emily.

Lilah watched his grin spread from ear to ear across his face as he read it confirming her suspicions that the feelings were mutual. Neither one of them were very good at hiding their emotions, so Lilah had to hear both ends of the story for the past seven months. She hated every second of it, it felt like her cousin was dating her sister, but she appreciated that both of them were finally happy. She watched Emily change from being moody and snarky to someone who could laugh and have fun. She saw that Logan was able to relax and bend the rules a little. It really was beautiful.

"Is this for real?" He asked, practically jumping up and down.

"Well it's not my handwriting on that paper is it?" She responded.

Logan let out a giddy laugh and fell back on the couch while Lilah muttered something about something being gross. He let another giggle come out of his chest, and his face was starting to hurt from how much he was smiling but no matter what he did he couldn't stop. He liked Emily for a while and now he knew the feelings were returned he couldn't be happier. That night the man fell asleep with a smile on his face.

Emily rushed around her apartment looking for her keys. The stupid things went missing every time she had to leave to go do something, she swore up and down they were cursed when in reality she was just careless and misplaced them often. The woman had woken up to a phone call from Lilah telling her to meet Logan at her café at 11 am, well it was now eleven and Emily still hadn't left her house yet because of those damn, keys!

"Finally," she said aloud, "I found them."

Quickly, she grabbed the bag with Logan's birthday present and left the house. As soon as she got there, she rushed inside to see logan sitting at the barstools with Lilah looking like she was going to murder someone. Emily gulped and smiled awkwardly.

"Why is it that you are late to everything? Do you know how long we've been waiting for you!? Seriously Emily get it together!" Lilah shouted.

"Sorry," Emily smiled sheepishly, "I lost my keys."

"Of course you did," she grumbled.

Emily made eye contact with Logan and awkwardly smiled and gave him a wave, " I brought your birthday present."

She gave him the bag and he opened it. Logan pulled out a candle, and jasmine tea and a nice looking mug.

" I figured since your apartment was smelling rather funny the candle would help that and you like jasmine tea so, yeah," Emily blushed and looked at her feet missing the huge smile that spread across Logan's face.

       "Thank you!"

"Both of you get out and go on your date. I've got better things to do than watch you make googly eyes at each other," Lilah griped.

If it was possible, Emily's face turned a darker shade of red, and began stuttering. Logan shook his head and took hold of Emily's hand, pulling her out onto the street. They walked for quite a while hand in hand without saying a word. Emily was dying inside; she was comfortable and uncomfortable all at once and it was messing with her brain.

"So, um, do you like Connecticut?" She tried.

       "Yeah, you're here so why wouldn't I?"

Emily stopped in her tracks, and looked at Logan incredulously, " That's so cheesy! You cheese ball!"

Logan laughed, " well it's true."

It grew quite quiet for a moment, and Emily began to feel awkward once again. She wanted to let out all of the emotions building in her chest but she couldn't. What if he didn't feel the same? What if he ran away from her? What if they never talked to each other again? All those thoughts made Emily want to cry. In fact she almost did because Logan noticed.

        "Woah, are you alright? Emily?"

"Yeah, I'm okay," her voice was smaller than she wanted it to be.

       "I like you."

Emily, who had been looking at the ground, snapped her head up. What. The. Heck. This dude really hit her with that information out of nowhere? While she was surprised, a warm feeling tingled in her stomach and she found herself more awkward than ever but this time Emily didn't mind. Logan's face was knit tightly together with worry. His blue eyes met her brown ones, wide and fearful. Emily gave him a smile.

"I like you too."

The end.
