    |ONC 2026| SHORT LIST - ROUND 3 AMBASSADOR'S PICK - ROUND 2 ------------------------------------------------------ When Terra is doomed, humanity's final hope is sent into the unknown aboard a vessel meant to carry life beyond extinction. But humanity's future falls to those who were never meant to hold it. Unintentionally trapped aboard the ship, Derrin Muely becomes a silent witness to the unraveling of humanity's last survivors, forced to watch as fear, ambition, and control drive them to destroy one another. Left alone in the vast quiet of space, Derrin turns inward. Through fragments of memory and reflection, he confronts a life spent searching for purpose, measuring his worth, and fearing failure, only to find that meaning may never have been something to discover at all. At the edge of existence, with no one left to see him, Derrin must face a final question: If life has no audience, no legacy, and no greater purpose, what does it mean to keep living?

Zog likes his life to be predictable. A humanoid built for routine, he's perfectly content piloting a rustbucket ship with his mischievous robotic og, Blip, at his side. Together, they scrape by on odd jobs and avoid trouble or excitement. But the galaxy has other plans. When a series of catastrophes forces Zog to command the Duj, a cutting-edge (and alarmingly temperamental) spaceship, he's thrust into a universe of uncharted planets, hostile aliens, and malfunctioning AI. Blip, meanwhile, is having the time of his circuits, revelling in every chaotic twist their journey throws at them. As Zog struggles to keep the Duj-and his sanity-intact, they encounter a cast of eccentric allies and dangerous foes, from a sharp-tongued engineer to a mannequin-turned-lethal bodyguard. Together, they'll face exploding planets, galactic bureaucracies, and a cat with suspiciously good aim. In a galaxy where every mission goes wrong, every crewmember has quirks, and every button on the control panel might spell doom, Zog and Blip must find a way to survive-without completely losing their minds. Beyond Spuroxi is a laugh-out-loud sci-fi adventure perfect for fans of humour, heart, and intergalactic mayhem.

Sarah Hatchett is a cynic when it comes to love. She would rather be alone with her cat, then take a chance at heartbreak. Things seem to take a turn, while out on a trip to Ireland with family and a mysterious, yet handsome man says he remembers her. Sarah finds this odd, as she has never seen him in her life, let alone stepped a foot in Europe before. However there is that wavering feeling of deja-vu, whenever he is around her.

OC LORE - ⋆. 𐙚 ˚ In the heart of Mortuorum's capital lies Bellême, a city divided, where the noble class walks the gilded streets above, while the wretched and destitute are cast into suffocating shadows from the Underworld below. Vin Mikhail, once a resident of the distant Cognopolis finds himself exiled by tragic events that left him with nothing but the will the survive. He was thrown into the lower classes, and finds himself into a position of proximity to the elite-working as a humble Mail Carrier. Yet, his accra to Bellême's streets comes at a better price: the sneers and contempt of this who view him as nothing more than the product of filth he was born into. In this unforgiving world, Vin seeks to survive not by labor but through thievery-extracting the valuables of the rich and exploiting their weaknesses. As he move between two worlds, he faces internal struggle a brutal as the one outside. Until he meets Fauho Nikolaev, a fellow underworlder also originally from a different nation, and he felt...

My final essay on religion for Advanced Placement World History and Theology, or APWHT. This was one of the three essays we had to write along with 70 multiple choice questions in 3 hours, as the final exam for college credit. If you pass, like I almost did, (even with a perfect score on two essays and a 70 percent on questions, I didn't finish the third essay. No one did.) you can get a college credit towards a world history degree. It's a huge opportunity. Only one in every three hundred students finish the exam, and only one in six hundred get a seventy or above, a passing grade.

In Shadows and Echoes, life unfolds in shades of irony, love bleeds into loss, and struggle becomes a silent war within. This collection of short stories delves into the lives of characters trapped between hope and despair, desire and resignation, survival and self-destruction. Told with sharp sarcasm and a dark, unflinching gaze, each story is a mirror reflecting the contradictions of existence-how love can be both salvation and curse, how ambition can devour the soul, how the human heart clings to meaning even in the face of inevitable ruin. These are not tales of heroes, but of flawed, restless souls grappling with choices that haunt them, battles they cannot escape, and dreams that sometimes suffocate more than they liberate. With writing that cuts deep and lingers long after the last page, Shadows and Echoes is an exploration of the human condition in its rawest, most bittersweet form-where even the smallest decisions can shape a lifetime, and where every whisper of hope is shadowed by the weight of reality.

Meet Sara Waite. Beautiful. Charismatic. Intimidating. Philosophical. Bored. And frequently apathetic. Meet her best friend, Parker Bailey. Equally beautiful, charismatic, and intelligent – but slightly more approachable, and quite a bit less apathetic. And, finally, meet John, who has never backed down from a challenge. Ever. And he won't stop until he gets Sara to care about her life, the world – and, in the process, him.

Coming of age is a quiet betrayal. We are promised a solid, dependable stage, only to find ourselves standing on the jagged bedrock of a profoundly cynical world. To cope with the cacophony, I spent years hiding behind the prospect of a "planned exit." I convinced myself that wielding the void as an emergency brake made me profound, treating my own fragility as a badge of honor. In truth, it was a grotesque charade. This is a reality check for anyone who has ever used the idea of the "end" to escape the grueling boredom of the "now." It is an exploration of what happens when the mask finally slips. We are all on a free-fall jaunt through the cosmos, and you will, inevitably, have to eat your share of the daily garbage. But once you accept the absolute finality of the great silence, you might just find a way to face the eventual oblivion on your feet, with a genuine smile on your face.

Hercules Porter never wanted to become a hero. In fact, he hated most people, especially teenagers in his elite private school. The only person he believed to be worth saving was his sister. But then she goes missing. This forces Hercules to go on a hunt for her which leads him to The Eagles, a ragtag group of teenagers claiming to be heroes. He joins them and eventually goes on missions as he slowly begins to see the worth of humans. He has to fight crooks, masterminds and may have to kill the person who kidnaps his sister. Let the adventure begin. * This is a stand alone book from The Indigo Hero of Eagles but its more interesting if you read the other one first.

My name is Jasper Braxton, and this is life's story.  My story of misery, joy, and love. My story of happiness, and depression. The experiences I've had being enrolled in the United States Military. And the love of my life, who I never was able to grow old with. Care to stay with me and read? Fine by me. Want to brush this off and leave? Fine by me. I just want you to know, that when you think no one cares, and no one understands you, believe me. I understand. I care.

Life in Rhyme Dive into the depths, where passions churn, Into dark thoughts, bad news we learn. These verses offer not balm for the pain, But lay bare life's blueprint, again and again. Here, the light cadence - a deceiving guise, Behind it, a blizzard of storms rise. Of feelings, of passions, that tear at the core, The psychopaths' window, forevermore. They're among us, acting out every role, Friends and foes, where's their self-control? And how to know what fate awaits, If the ice of reason disintegrates? Within these verses, a chasm deep and vast, Where laughter and sorrow together are cast. Is madness useful, a gift or a curse? Or destruction the fate, forever acrosse? Decide for yourself, my lady/lord. Line after line, mirrors that afford Reflections of truth that anger and sting, Sins, vices, dark corners they bring. And souls that have grown cold, through dark lies. But even there, where darkness densely rise, A star of hope flickers, refuses to fade. Love, forgiveness, joy's parade, Not all is lost, there's success in the strife, In battling the self, and evil in life. And each verse - like a friend standing true, Ready to aid, to whisper the path to you, To keep from turning away, that bright ray....
