Krystin Jonee Johnson , a 5-year-old going to her first day in kindergarten, stood in the mirror in her bedroom and tugged at the hem of her pinafore. Her mother, Jonele stood behind her gawking at her in 'awe' . She couldn't believe her baby girl was finally going to her first day in kindergarten.
Her mother had a pear-like figure, long dark brown hair, light brown eyes and a light complexion. On a day like this, she wore a light pink blouse and beige knickers. Jonele has been over protective of her daughter since she adopted her. Jonele could never have a child of her own. She grabbed Krystin's hand, squatting down to her height. " I don't wanna go!" Krystin whined tugging on her mother's hand. "I know the first day might be scary, but you'll be fine, Krissy. You're a smart, sweet, beautiful girl.. they're lucky to have you, baby girl." her mother said in a soft, sympathetic tone. Her mother stood up, grabbing Krystin's book bag, and led her out of the house.
Jonele drove Krystin to Sunrise Elementary School. They shared a tight hug, Jonele kissed Krystin on her forehead and let her out of the car as Krystin hesitantly walked into the school yard. Krystin wandered around the school yard. Soon enough she found a bench to sit on.
A boy appeared in front of her almost out of mid air. He seemed to be an urchin. He jumped around in front of her face, "Hi !!" he exclaimed, waving his hand then plopping next to her.
Krystin embraced his presence, "Hello", she replied calmly.
"My name's Jacob, Jacob Perez....what's yours?" he asked.
"Krystin Jonee", she replied back shyly.
"Qué nombre hermoso" he said softly.
"Huh?" she asked confused.
He kissed her cheek.
"Eww!" she said rubbing it off roughly.
"You got the cooties!" he yelled triumphantly and laughed hysterically.
She pouted and poked out her bottom lip. "Wanna play tag?" he questioned.
"What's that?" Krystin asked with a perplexed look on her face. Jacob explained the game of "tag".
"Tag you're it!" Krystin yelled.
"That's right now I have to chase you!" Jacob exclaimed. Krystin ran as fast as she could. They played "tag" until it was time to go inside to start the school day.
