It was our first day, me, Mike, and Randy walked to the scaring school.  The inside looked amazing, with sculptures of former scarers and their world record scream canisters.

Me and Mike took our seats.

I heard too monsters next to Mike scoff at the fact he was here.
I glared at them but kept my cool.

Randy went to sit next to us.  "I'm so nervous."

"Relax it'll be fine." Mike reassures.

"Don't worry, I think you'll do well."  I add on.  "And believe me, if I were me a few years ago I would be shaking-

"Good morning students!"

We all silence ourselves once our professor started to write on the chalkboard.

"Welcome to scaring 101.  I am Prof. Knight.  Now I'm sure all of you were the scariest monsters in your town.  Well bad news kids, your in my town now!  And I do not scare easily-

Prof. Knight gasps as the window opens from above and a monster flys across the building closing all the curtains and landing down.

"Dean Hardscrabble, this is a pleasant surprise."  Says Prof. Knight.

She makes my spine shiver just by looking at her.

Mike whispers to me and Randy.  "She's a legend, she broke the all time scare record with a scream in that very can."

The Dean wipes the dust off her scream canister.  "I don't mean to interrupt.  I just thought I would stop by to see the terrifying faces joining my program."

"Well I'm sure my students would love to hear some words of inspiration?" Prof. Knight says with a nervous smile.

"Inspiration? Very well.  Scariness, is the true measure of a monster.  If your not scary, what kind of a monster are you?"

I notice Mike frowning, I was also a little nervous.

"It's my job to make great students greater, not make mediocre students, less mediocre. That is why at the end of the semester there will be a final exam.  Fail that exam, and you are out of the scaring program."

Everyone around us started murmuring to each other whilst I started twiddling my thumbs nervously.

"So, I should hope you are all properly, inspired."

Dean Hardscrabble opens her wings and flys back out the window.

"Alright alright, who can tell me the properties of an effective roar?"

I look at Mike.  "You know this."  I smirk.

Mike raises his hand.

"Yes?"

He stands up to explain the answer.  "There are actually five, those include the roars residence, the duration of the roar, and-

A loud roar makes us all flinch as we see a monster at the schools entrance.

"Oh, sorry, I heard someone say "roar" so I just kinda went for it."  The blue monster shrugs as he walks in.

Me and Mike just stare at him as he moves through the seats.

"Very impressive, Mr?"

"Sullivan, Jimmy Sullivan."

Oh, Sullivan huh?

"Like Bill Sullivan, the scarer?" Prof. Knight asks.

"Yeah, he's my dad." He answers casually.

Everyone gasps at the fact he's a Sullivan.
