Learing the Truth

Out of class away from the two girls I feel myself slow down a bit as Bella's classroom door nears. My nerves finally leave as the distance between myself and the gorgeous blonde whose past haunts me grows. Right outside of the door containing a biology class full of juniors a bronze haired boy comes barreling out when the bell rings. He accidentally knocks into me with a chest that feels like stone and I nearly topple over only being stopped as he sticks a hand out to steady me. Once satisfied that I am not going to fall to the ground the bronze haired marble statue of a boy basically runs away again. Looking around I am standing at the foot of a hospital bed. My chest feels as if an elephant is resting there and my body feels weak. The room is filled with the sounds of wet heavy coughs coming from the occupants of nearly every bed. In the bed that rests in front of me is the boy from the hallway. His hazel eyes are milky and clouded over, the light fading from him fast. As I stand and watch him he lets out a vengeful cough that wracks his entire body letting loose a couple of droplets of blood. A young blonde doctor rushes to his side placing a pale hand to the boys equally as pale forehead. When the doctor looks around his eyes appear to be an inhuman topaz color. I have read about that before but where? The answer is close, but just out of my reach. The doctor looks lost and broken. I move forward to comfort him before I am back in the school hallway once again. Shaking my head for what feels like the millionth time that day I spot my sister walking out of her class with a golden haired blue eyed baby faced boy. When Bella spots me she lights up walking over with the boy trailing behind her. As the three of us start walking towards the gym I pass my arm over my sisters shoulders. "So Bells are you going to tell me who your friend is," I ask with a cheeky grin, and receive an elbow to the ribs in return.

Rolling her eyes with a light annoyed smile she replies, "Athena this is Mike Newton. Mike this is my sister Athena." I wave to Mike in greeting and we continue our walk through the rain. Mike is chattering on not really needing any fuel to keep his fire going. I zone out thinking about how strange my day has been when I hear Mike ask Bella what she did to make a Cullen boy so upset. Groaning, she tells him that she did not do anything to him.

Halting in my path and inadvertently making her stop too, "was someone rude to you?"

She shakes her head no just as the Mike kid says, "yeah, Cullen looked like she just threatened his entire family. He did not even talk to her."

Sighing and looking at my sister I ask, "would you like me to talk to him? I am friends with his brother Emmett. I can ask him what is wrong with the guy?" She tells me no again while Mike stares at me in bewilderment making me feel slightly annoyed. No one is friends with the Cullen's.  I hear it, but no words actually leave the boys mouth. What the hell is that I think confused. We continue walking with him keeping the conversation flowing once more. When we reach the gym door Mike holds it open for the three of us to enter. Mike and Bella chat for another second as I make my way towards the locker room before I can walk in though coach calls my name. Walking over to him he informs me the seniors do not need to dress out today. We are to wait on the bleachers for Mr. Saxton who would be showing us a video on teen drinking. Nodding I head towards the bleachers and plop down tucking my bag between my legs. I see Bella talking to the other Coach who I believe is named Coach Clapp, and being told she could sit out for the day. Feeling exhausted and the start of a headache I close my eyes and wait for the class to start when I feel the bleacher dip next to me.

"How were tryouts? Any new sketches for me to see?" The voice that I have learned to recognize as Emmett asks lowly. Massaging my temples I reach down lifting my bag before handing it over.

"They are in there. I drew that kid from the front row with multi color hair. They were in my lit class sniffing the books. Tryouts went without a hitch, and I am now on both varsity teams." I say with a bit of pride leaking into my voice.
