Nicky was just about to close her store for the day when she hears the loud clinging of her door which signals the arrival of a customer.
She lifts her head to face the source and sees a man along his way into the store.
"Welcome to Nicole's" she says with a smile, "can I help you with looking for something?" she asks him.
"Uh, hi" the man says with slight awkwardness. "I'm looking for something to say I'm sorry to my girlfriend" he admits sheepishly. "You got anything like that?"
"Indeed we do" Nicky says to him as she walks around the counter to make her way toward him. "And might I suggest adding some chocolates too" she says as she leads him over to the shelf with the lily of the valley flowers.
"She's not a fan" he admits.
"Then flowers are the best option" Nicky informs him. "Would you like to mix it up, maybe send ber a bouquet with flowers conveying different meanings?"
"That'd be great" he exhales in relief as she grabs a handful of the lilies of the valley, a few white orchids and a dash of pink roses to make into a bouquet for him.
"Was it that bad? What you did?" she asks with an easy going smile. "Keep in mind you can refrain from telling me if you don't want to" she points out as she mixes the flowers for him.
"Sort of" he admits, "she can be very...passionate when she wants to be" he says.
"If I didn't know better I'd say you were calling her over-emotional" she says with a blank expression as she lifts her head from mixing the bouquet to face him.
"Oh no" he stammers out immediately. "I didn't mean that at--"
"I'm joking" she reassures him with a smile at his nervousness as he exhales in relief at this as they share a light laugh.
Nicky likes to ease her customers so she can make them more comfortable around her. She wants them to consider her their shrink, minus the degree.
"I was being an asshole to her about something and it just escalated from there" he admits sadly, recalling his argument with his girlfriend. She even asked him to leave because he was starting to embarrass himself and her.
"Well" she says as she wraps the bouquet up for him. "If these don't get you of trouble then I have no idea what will" she says as she finishes up with the bouquet. "That'll be $55" she informs him as he pulls out the money from his wallet.
"Thanks" he says as he takes the flowers from off the counter as she places the money in the register. "I'm Hugo, by the way" he informs her.
"Nice to meet you Hugo, I'm Nicole, the owner of Nicole's" she says with a playful grand gesture of the hands as he chortles at this. "And good luck with calming your girlfriend down" she adds.
"Thanks, I need that" he says as he looks at his watch. "She'll be awake in a few minutes so the timing is great as the flowers are still fresh" he comments.
"She's a vampire?" Nicole asks him in intrigue.
"Yeah" Hugo says, looking surprised that she guessed it right off the bat. Other people might have assumed that she was a human waking up from a long day shift or something of the sort.
Nicky can see that in his eyes he's awaiting some sort of snide remark from her about his girlfriend being a vampire but little does he know that such a thing means nothing to her. Nicky believe that as long as you're happy then let the heart get what the heart wants.
"Well all the best of luck to you, Hugo, and make sure not to piss her off again or I might help her kick your ass" she teases him as he laughs at this as he waves bye to her as he walks out the shop.
