(Authors Note: "Theo" would be the POV, but this story is a spin off of "What If", which explains what would have happened if Theo and "Her" would've been together, and inside view to Theo's personaility!)
"Because the one I love is you, not Jessica!"
those words that popped out of my head, reminded me how young we were. She came here not long ago, and we both graduated from high school. She should be here in any minute. Hmm.
I snooped and gazed around as the people in the cafe were busy staring at their phones and wrapping scarfs around their neck. I wondered how would she look like, perhaps the same? I've seen her on her Instagram and Facebook but I don't really remember what it's like to be with her.
"Heyyyy~!" a voice peeped and she jumped in front of me, like a surpise. I wasn't at amused at all. She still is the silly her.
"Hey," I replied. She gave a cute smile and opened her arms wide. Her winter beanie were slanted and her red scarf made her look like a rabbit in the snow.
"What, no hugs? Seriously? All the way here and no hugs?" she whined. She always wanted hugs from me. I never wanted to give them because I loved seeing her whine. She'd pout afterwards, and begs for a hug. So she did. I knew it. I hated and regret for not giving her hugs but whatever. She'll ask again some other time, I'm sure."So how's your boyfriend?" I asked, being all curious. She looked down and sighed. Then her voice got deep and serious. "We broke up, but he was nice, so I'm fine, don't worry!" she said, ending it with a cheery smile.
Idiot. I know you're not okay at all. Tell me what's up before I break his neck, damn it! I calmed myself down before replying. "What happened?" I asked. "Things just didn't work out for us like I expected and so we had no where to go and thus the result," she said plainly, not showing any sadness. Damn. I've never seen this side of her before. I took a sip of my macchiato before responding. I know she's very emotional. "I see. So what are your plans now?" I asked, trying to divert attention away. I can see she's not over about this as she looks away towards the window.
"Get a stable job, live a stable life, get my PhD done, then only I'll start looking for love. I don't mind if it happens now, but I don't think I would put any effort in it, though." She said, her face boosting with passion. "But if it was with you I'd put in all my efforts," she added, while chuckling and showing her naughty smile. She was obviously flirting, and she knows I love that. "Heck, who wouldn't want to date me?" I continued as we both smiled and giggled together. "Youre still so full of yourself, Theo! " she giggled and smiled. It's been so long since I've seen her real smile. Her smiling eyes reminded me of the crazy person I was thinking about her every single night when I was just 9. But I guess she was kidding about me, I shouldn't make hasty choices.
"Which university you're in again?" The subject rose up seriously but she broke into laughter. I stared at her with puzzled eyes. "Everyone keeps asking me the same thing but its funny because basically its the University of X! " she began to laugh endlessly. I can't help but to smile along. I stared at her and she seemed to be picking up the signal. The sign of telepathy. She looked away suddenly. What, did she forget how it works?
"OMG! I'm running super late, I have class, see you again and I'll pay you back when I see you so just this once! Thank you love you bye!! " she said as she was rushing towards the door. When she passed through the window I saw her running furiously with those uggs, her beanie fell and midway of picking it she tripped on her own foot and face-planted on the snow.
Ah, of course, the clumsy, clumsy girl. Classic.
But I've never laugh so hard in my life since i left high school though.
