eight years later

jinyoung's shoes tapped against the cold tile floor. his steps loudly echoed through the corridor.

the building was old and run-down. it looked like it had remained unused for years. cobwebs hung neatly from the ceiling, while dust covered every surface it could find. yet somehow jinyoung seemed to know his way around the place perfectly.

eventually, he stopped in front of one of the doors. he hesitated for a moment, as if afraid of what he's going to face, before turning the knob. but he didn't go in. he just stood in the doorway, looking at the other man in the room. neither said anything.

there was a small table and two chairs in the centre of the room. unlike everything else in the building, they weren't covered in dust or dirt. it seemed like the man had cleaned them beforehand. jinyoung didn't know if he felt grateful or disgusted.

the man finally sat down on one of the chairs, while staring at jinyoung intently, as if telling him to do the same. jinyoung just stared. after a lack of response, the man sighed and motioned his hand towards the empty seat. jinyoung stood some more, before finally taking a seat.

the two sat in silence. the air was filled with guilt, grief and unspoken feelings.

"you look different," jinyoung stated coldly.

he despised everything about the man's new look. he despised the dry, white hair that once used to be beautiful and black. he despised the face full of makeup that once used to be so genuine and comforting. he despised the icy-blue lenses in his eyes that once sparkled with joy. and he especially despised the ugly leopard print on his jacket. seriously, it looked hideous.

this wasn't bambam. this wasn't jinyoung's best friend anymore.

"you look different too," bambam muttered, obviously referencing to the other man's disheveled state.

jinyoung wanted to laugh. he wanted to let out the loudest and biggest laugh he could. he wanted to laugh so hard that he'd start crying. he wanted to laugh so hard that he'd suffocate and die.

but he didn't.

he just stared.

"so... i guess you'd like to know why i asked to meet you here," bambam said nervously.

he awaited for any sign of reaction from the older. he got nothing. just the same haunting gaze.

he sighed and continued with a shaky voice, "what... what exactly happened to, uh... to yugyeom?"

jinyoung kept silent for a few seconds, before finally speaking, "is this what this is about? you know what happened. you ruined everything."

bambam gulped nervously, feeling more and more uncomfortable because of the older's intense stare and venom-filled voice. he had no idea how to reply to him. no matter what he says, it's going to sound wrong.

after getting no response, jinyoung weakly stood up from his seat.

"i'm leaving," he mumbled, trying to escape from the room as quickly as he could.

"wait!" bambam shouted desperately, causing the older to stop in his tracks. "please, tell me what happened after i left... i'm begging you."

"why should i bother wasting my time on you, fucking prick?" jinyoung spat, starting to get annoyed. "give me one damn reason to stay."

the younger sighed heavily.

"i said i was sorry. i regret everything, i really do!"

seeing as these words left jinyoung unphased, he quickly thought of something else to say. he had to hear the truth.
