8. [The Spirit Within] - Another beginning -

- I must admit that I was really angry with our captain.

- It was kind of a breach of trust.

- But who am I kidding , I couldn't stay mad at that cute redhead for too long .

- Being in his arms was the nicest feeling I've ever had.

- Our training started the next day.

- And he didn't feel sorry for me at all. Absolutely not!

- On the contrary, he enjoyed chasing me all over the deck. He said it was good for my condition. Yeah right . . .

- A few weeks went by and I felt like Satan himself was training me.

- He was an extreme sadist.

- But his training paid off!

- Every day he made me stronger, brimming with confidence.

- The Kid noticed it too.

- As I did every morning, I went out on deck very early and prepared myself mentally and morally for my fall. Morning workouts are the worst of all. Eustass said it has to be that way, to wake me up.

- But instead of my mentor, I saw a huge bouquet of flowers on a barrel on deck.

"This could be a trap!", I muttered to myself and approached very slowly.

- I arrived in front of my "target", inspected the bouquet very carefully.

- I lifted it up to read the enclosed card.

- The words "Turn around" were written on it.

- When I turned around, I saw a smiling, clapping Kid.

- He patted my head and praised me, "Well done, little girl! You suspect even a bouquet of flowers. Then your naivety is history from now on".

- Somehow it saddens me. . . .

- Because my naivety actually led me to Kid.

- After all, I met the human traffickers back then. . . .

- Hey, don't be sad! I have a message that might cheer you up! "

- "Your training will not take place today."
