A thoroughbred. A standardbred. To many people, these breed names are only ever known for horse racing. The thoroughbreds or standardbreds are bred for racing or meat is what is told. A horse that will be bred for racing, will be taken from their mother at the young age of 6 months, and their mother will be prepared for once again breeding her next foal which would be sent to racing training. At the age of 18 months, the foal would be taken to a racing business where its training would start. 18 months, that's a year and a half old, not nearly old enough for the horse to be fully grown.

The horse, he wouldn't remember his life. His foal life. The moment the horse is taken into racing, they're separated from all other regular horses, had a saddle strapped onto their back and a bridle put on their face, with a bit in their mouth. They don't know any better, maybe never would know any better. If a horse didn't break in, he'd be sent to a field where he'd be abandonded until they either have someone coming to offer to attempt to break him in or they are automatically sent to slaughter. Should that be allowed? For a horse not to be given a chance, if he's hopless, just to kill him? I wouldn't think so, and neither would Parker: my horse, who was saved from slaughter.
