chapter two ; charmed

rhiannon awoke early the next morning, dressed herself in her short green skirt and put her robes on before she made her way down to the common room. she was never up this early but she had a hard time sleeping last night, she couldn't stop worrying about her lie.

she made her way to the great hall and took a seat next to mattheo who was sitting at the slytherin table. she decided she was going to try to see if he was suspicious of anything that way she could stay on top of this.

rhiannon took a sip of pumpkin juice and he turned towards her noticing her presence. "ah, reeves what are you doing down here so early?" he questioned making small talk.

"i couldnt really sleep." she made a quick excuse.

"oh, whats keeping that pretty head of yours awake so much huh?" he said with a bit of a grin.

"just uh, worried about all the lessons im taking this year." she lied and almost wanted to roll her eyes at how bad of an excuse that was.

"lessons huh? well we will be getting our times tables soon enough, i wouldnt stress too much." he replied. "and besides, you have what they call in america, pretty privilege so im sure it wont be too hard for you." he added.

pretty privilege? she was confused for a moment but went along with it. what did he know about america? he had an english accent so he couldnt know much could he? and if he did know about it would he realize she was nothing but a liar? she felt anxious all of the sudden not sure what to think.

"not even going to say thank you darling? that was quite the compliment i just gave you." he said, trying to charm her. mattheo wanted to make the young witch fall at his feet. for several reasons actually, he wanted to know what she was hiding and it was definitely a plus that she was as gorgeous as she was. as well as he knew she was close with draco and his father wanted someone to help draco with his task, he specifically wanted the help of a female for his own personal reasons, so mattheo had to do what he had to do. he was resisting the urge to look inside her head and see what she really was keeping from him. but that would have to wait, he would have to get her alone. all in due time. for now he was going to befriend her so he could move along with his plan.

"sorry about that, thank you." she said softly with a smile and a red tint to her cheeks.

a bit of time passed and draco blaise and pansy all made their way to the table. the five of them all conversed until they saw their class schedules and draco was very annoyed to see that we all had potions as well as a number of other classes with the gryffindors.

the group all made their way to professor slughorns classroom when it was time for potions and they were all offered a chance to win liquid luck, of course harry potter the chosen one had to win, but mattheo draco and rhiannon all came pretty close to the prize, their potions were not perfect like his but pretty good.

after class she and mattheo sat next to each other during DADA, where they were told the person they sat next to was now their partner for the whole year and rhiannon tried to suppress an eye roll. though she did note that mattheo was quite attractive, surely it wouldnt be too bad. in fact he's seemed to have bought into her lie so she really didnt mind him all too much as throughout the whole day he had given her quite a bit of compliments.

once they finished all their classes for the day he approached rhi, "hey little witch, i was wondering if you could help me with the essay professor snape set, we could work on it in the library?" he offered. why not? that couldnt hurt. "sure." rhiannon smiled and the two made their way to the library. the poor girl had no idea he was about to set her up to quite the chaotic year.
