HEARTBROKEN PRINCESS

he would have a face of angel if his lips would ever break farther apart. if it weren't for the ugly personality behind that mask.

the edge was pushed up, scrunching his one eye up, making the brown appear black. his lips parted a centimeter, making it seductive to many.

yet the faked smile on his pristine face made him appear all too arrogant, like one could imagine.
y/n tugged at the ends of her minimal plaid dress further down her knees to hide her exposed thighs.

as she sat across the dinner table accompanied by her ex boyfriend and an unknown guest, their families were talking amongst themselves without knowing the internal war between their son and daughter.

she received another cocky grin from junho, wrapping his arm around the shoulder of another female in attempt to make her jealous and unwanted.

tapping the table to gather the attention from everyone in the fancy dining room, he stood up with the petite figure by his side.

"i'd like all of you to meet suryeon, my girlfriend." the heartbreaking words fell from his lips.
y/n felt betrayed, that he reasoned their breakup with her personal issues when in reality he just wanted to get another doll on campus.

she lowered her head in embarrassment when all the parents eyes shot to her after the announcement, that junho brought a girl to their family dinner.

her mothers glare darkened before trying to smile politely at the new couple.
"it's lovely to meet you, suryeon."

"i'd like to be excused." y/n pushed herself up from her chair.
her mom gave her another emotionless stare at her poor manners, in which she frowned at.

"don't you have a few more minutes?" she heard junho's voice interrupt, his lips curved upwards with his wine glass in his hand.
"you wouldn't want to miss out on dessert, hm?"

her anger boiled up at her ex's teasing tone, his new girlfriend finding his irritable humor amusing as she hit his chest playfully.
"im not much of a sweet-aholic."

releasing the deep breath she held in, y/n turned on her heels to leave the room with mixed emotions.

the teenager slumped in her mattress staring blankly into the distance outside her window.
she could already sense how cold it was outside from the rain and the blowing trees, but her desire to visit the outdoors was rising every minute.

still in the elegant dress that decorated her body, she was removed out of her thoughts by the door handle being yanked back and forth aggressively.

behind it stood her mother with smoke coming from her ears, pissed about y/n's actions during the family dinner with the kims.

she rolled her eyes before approaching the lock and twisting it, pulling the frame towards her.
"what is going on with you and junho?" she asked threateningly.

"what do you mean?"
the woman straightened her posture at the small girl with the fake innocent tone.

"the kim's son should not be seen with another woman, you and junho embarrassed us tonight."
"then he shouldn't have brought suryeon." she kissed her teeth feeling pissed about the topic.

grabbing onto y/n's shoulders harshly, her daughters face was drained and tired from the endless agony, the paleness and smudged makeup which she failed to sympathize for.

"how did you two breakup?"
"does it matter? we're done." the younger smirked, yanking her moms hands off her.

her panicked face was all due to the possible loss of connection with junho's wealthy inherited parents, that money was the only thing she worried about, not whether their relationship was healthy or not.

"im asking one last time, what happened." she demanded, but that only made y/n chuckle bitterly about her next lie.
"i cheated on him... and im telling you one last time, it's over."

her foot stepped forward to make her freedom from the angered women when she suddenly felt a strong impact on her cheek, sending her face to the right.

"slut." her mother spat out disgusted.
the engagement ring she was given on her special day had scratched y/n's cheek, leaving a mark that at any moment would begin bleeding.

it was the first time she slapped her, out of all the bad history they have been through she never dare laid a hand on her daughter because her husband was always watching.

but now there was no shame, no guilt, no shock that what she had just done she probably yearned to do for a long time.

her eyes were stinging as they were lowered on the floor, a tear pooling out one after the other.
she was in her most vulnerable state, scared and weak, a trace of inner fear she didn't feel with her mom often.

she watched the older women stomp out the room before slamming the door in her face, the last dose of wind rushing in with the rough force.

and then she broke.
y/n fell onto her knees in heartache, looking up from the corner of the room, she tried to steady herself trying to comprehend what was going on around her.

her body felt as if she had been bruised in every corner, legs felt shaky and could not support her body yet her head was the only thing that was feeling heavy from the slap.

there was only one thing she could crave, alcohol.
her hand slammed itself on the nearby desk to push herself off the floor, crumpling the money in her palm with a clenched jaw.

tonight was the only night she confessed to her weakness, the night where she was excused to feel melancholy and drown it with any available substances.

it pained to know how much the older woman despised her, going far enough to physically abuse her as if mentally never satisfied her enough.

the rain outside lured the teenage girl to pull open her windows with teary eyes, stripping the pair of heels off that were the only thing in the way from her getaway.

holding it by its loose ties, she carefully climbed down from the window to her bedroom not caring if anyone could hear her, all she could think about was running away to be solitary.

the more brutal the storm the calmer her heart, it was healing yet breaking repeatedly.
she would be lying if she said she wasn't terrified of thunder, but she loved the rain.

she ran through a maze of houses and winding side streets as the sky rumbled, heavy rain bouncing off the concrete. a storm smothered the sun, greying the world around her.

drops of water beat against her skin like hammers. the princess wasn't at all fazed by it. her dainty dress was soaked and the storm had battered her beautiful hair into a tangled mess.

she wasn't scared. to a child who had hardly ever feared being alone, this was just the beginning to a grand adventure.

y/n raised the second bottle of alcohol to her lips, chugging back the last droplets from it while sitting at the abandoned playground.

she could hear the swings dangling against each other, the rustling of nearby leaves and the dim glow from the lights.

her eyes squeezed closed as her face contorted.
she could feel her head spinning ultimately while the effects of the strong liquor kicked in.

her hand rose to wipe the excess liquid on her lips, grabbing a fistful of her hair and pulling on it to help ease the pain. slowly the headache was fading away, her fingers released her dark locks trembling.

the rain calmed down ever since she arrived, leaving her bare skin frost bitten.
she laid her head on her knees to trace the playgrounds decor with her finger tips when her memories rushed in again.

her eyelids fluttered closed with one last tear escaping, prepared to fall asleep in the chilly weather when a hand ran itself through her damp hair.

"princess, wake up."
