When I had finished with my little speech everybody had looked at me with what seemed like shock.
"Wow Demi...thank you for saying those things about me" Lexi said.
"Of course sweetheart, I'll always defend you"
I turned around after looking at Lexi, looked at Ms. Nancy and said "I would love to talk to you, in private" She huffed and started to lead me somewhere, that being her office. We got to her messy office and sat down, she looked at me and asked if I truly wanted her which made me slightly even more upset considering the past events.
"Well why do you want to adopt her?" she asked but trying to be nice this time.
"I have been thinking that I need someone in my life, and for a while I've been thinking of different ways to fill it. And so I thought, why not adopt" I said as sweetly as possible.
"Well if you want to adopt her you must answer a few questions to see if you qualify." I nodded at this for her to go ahead.
"What do you do for a living? And in what kind of house do you live in?"
"Well I am a professional singer and actress. And I live in a mansion and since I sing and act I move a lot, and because I am going on tour with a band I will be moving a lot" I answered proudly. When I finished speaking I looked at her and saw that she was shocked.
"Interesting.. Who lives with you in your home?" She started taking out papers from her desk, rather upset if I say so myself.
"Just myself, occasionally my mother comes around but that's it."
"Is your uh singing and acting career your main source of income."
"Yes"
"Hmm, very well..."
And so we continued for the next hour or so with her asking me questions about myself and how will I be able to support her. The more questions she asked and the more I answered them the more sour she seemed to get.
It was like she wanted to find something wrong. Nevertheless however, we came to an end and it was time for me to sign the final papers.
"Sign here, here and here. With this you will become Lexi's full guardian." She offered me a handful of documents and gave me a pen.
I reached for it and quickly signed the papers. I gave them back to her and she snatched them out of my hand signed where she needed to.
She stood up and I did too assuming we were finished.
She gave me a look I couldn't place and said, "You're officially her guardian. But you should know that for the next year or more if needed, your home will be visited and inspected to make sure everything is going right. If proved unworthy... she'll be put back into the system." She gave me a sly look.
I chuckled and said, "That will be just fine."
"You've mentioned that you'll be traveling as well, assuming that you'll be in different cities and such. We'll arrange meetings in those cities."
"Perfectly fine"
"Very well, you may leave now with her."

I walked out of her office, I saw Lexi outside of the door waiting for me. She looked up at me with hopeful eyes.
"So.. would you show me where your room is. You need to pack because from now on you'll be living with me" I smiled at her as her eyes started to shine.

When she told me she was going to adopt me I was so happy and excited. I finally get to get out of here!!
I grabbed her hand once again and started to drag her to the second floor towards my small room I shared with others, the room consisting of two bunk beds on either side of the wall. One rug on the floor and many drawings and papers everywhere and a rectangular shaped window.
"Where are your things" She asked as she looked around.
I point to my bed where all of my clothes on a corner were folded. She looked disappointed when she saw them. I didn't have much, not many here did.
"Is there anything else you want to take?" I shook my head after looking around for a moment,
She quickly grabbed my clothes and took my hand as we started to walk out, some of the other kids walking along the hallway staring in amazement at her.
A thought suddenly struck me, "Where do you live?"
"Well I live somewhere a bit far, but can't tell you because it's a surprise" She smiled as she squeezed my hand.
Even though I just got adopted I can tell that living with her is going to be a blast, maybe she would let me call her mommy!! I really want to..
