“Wow,” Silver said as I walked down the stairs towards him, he had a smile on his face as wide as the Grand Canyon, and he opened his arms for me to hug him. I got to the bottom of the decorated staircase and I flung myself into Silver’s arms, he grunted, but he seemed ok.

He let go of me and gave me a good look, and said in shock, “You look amazing, I didn’t know that you could get this dressed up.” Silver let me go and we walked down the hallway to the massive ballroom the dance was being held in, the darkly lit hallway was filled with students; the girls wore short, neon dresses and the highest heels possible; the guys wore dress shirts and skinny ties. All of the girls looked to be in pain, but they somehow think they can shove themselves into a tube of fun that is called a dress.

My hand was in Silver’s, but as we passed Logan, Silver let go of my hand and gave me a nervous look. Logan smiled deviously and said, “You look nice, Mara.”

“Thanks,” I said, “and stop scaring Silver!”

Logan smiled deviously again, and whined, “Awe, but its fun.” I looked back at Silver who was staring at his shoes all awkwardly, but he looked up at me and Logan and smiled weakly. Logan walked over to Silver and slapped him on the back, Silver lurched forward, and Logan said jokingly, “No need to fear me, kid, but if you get Mara pregnant I will have to kill you.” The last part he said completely seriously.

I managed to laugh slightly, but Silver just smiled. Once Logan had left us Silver was much calmer, and he threw his arm around me. We entered a dimly lit room, lights flashed, and the music was loud and very familiar.

I looked to the stage and on the stage was the amazing band Late Nite Reading; Brady was rocking out on the bass, and Clayton looked to be having the time of his life with his guitar. The sad thing was that nobody was really paying attention to them, though they are an amazing band when it comes to live shows.

“Holy fuck!” I yelled, “That’s Late Nite Reading!”

Silver looked at me like I was crazy, and then asked me, “Who are they?”

I mentally face palmed myself and then Silver; he should obviously know who they are because I talk about them all the time; sometimes boys aren’t the smarter gender. “They are one of my favorite bands, dearest,” I said very slowly and calmly as if I were talking to a little kid.

Silver still looked confused, so I just said simply, “Never mind, let’s dance.” I dragged Silver out to the crowded dance floor and we began to dance.

Dalton’s voice boomed across the ballroom, “Now everyone grab that special person in your life, because we’re going to be playing a slow song next!”

I looked at Silver and Silver smiled at me, and I could tell that we both had the same wonderful idea—dancing. All the girls around us were scrambling to find their date so they could dance with them, and some of the guys were flirting with the girls in the smallest rags that could be called clothes.

Then, all of a sudden the song called “Our Conclusion” started to play softly; Silver had his hands around my waist and my arms were around his neck. We placed our foreheads together, and we gently swayed back and forth. Silver pressed his forehead against mine, and he sweetly kissed me on the cheek. I bet if Logan had an eye on us he was surely having a meltdown; that man is way too protective over me.

“Thank you for that,” I giggled. After what seemed like seconds the slow song was over, and they began to play my favorite Late Nite Reading song—“What You Went Through”. Silver and I removed our hands from each other and began to dance once again.

Silver smiled at me and once he leaned into kiss the music suddenly stopped, and all of the heads around us turned towards a collapsing Abi. She fell to the floor and the guy that was in front of her was shaking, but I completely recognized him—Arthur Monsoon. You don’t want to anger this guy; he can do some pretty serious stuff to you.

Silver sprinted over to Arthur and pulled him away from Abi; he took out a needle looking thing from his pocket and injected it into the back of Arthur’s neck. The once purple glow that had formed around Arthur gradually went away, and everyone was staring at them.

Logan shoved his way through the crowd and snatched Arthur by his shirt collar and dragged him away from the dance floor.

            Boy, what a night.
