Silver looked into my eyes in a sad way knowing that we were never going seen each other ever again, so he just pulled me into a tight hug and let me be in his arms for a while. My heart pounded in my chest, and I just let myself snuggle my way towards his heart. I heard it beating loudly, and I nearly cried from knowing that I was not going to make it out alive.
“Come on, we don’t have all night!” Abi ruined the moment by saying that rudely. Silver reluctantly let go of me, and I could see the sadness in his grey eyes.
He began to walk down the hallway to the front of the room and typed in the key code in the key pad, the doors flew open and surprisingly there was no one standing there. “Everyone has to be silent, so we don’t get attacked,” Silver commanded in a hushed tone. Then, he proudly led everyone out of the room, and I couldn’t hear a thing from them—it was surprising for a group of twenty.
Abi and I stood alone, I felt like I wanted to cry, but I knew I had to make it out of that place alive. I was determined to get out like I had before.
The room was silent, except for our rapid heartbeats, and mine was the loudest. I couldn’t believe that I was actually going to kill Stryker, and I also couldn’t believe that we had gone through so much in one day. That day was the wildest day of my life, and I hated it. All I wanted in my life was peace for once, and I wanted it to be normal.
“Come on,” I grumbled and then ripped the key card from Abi’s hands, and then I walked down the hallway to the door; I swiped the key and the door whooshed open. The hallway was dark and damp and I guessed that it would be soon crawling with guards and scientists, so for safety reasons I drew back my bow and Abi turned on her invisibility suit on; she snuck behind me with her phone in her hand.
My footsteps echoed through the empty first floor, and then we turned a corner. It was an empty open space with an old, rusty staircase leading up to the scientist’s floor, and I bet the next floor was crawling with scientists—those monsters.
“Up there,” I whispered to the invisible Abi and then I gestured with my bow to the stairs, and I began to make my slow decent up the stairs. They creaked loudly with every step I took, but I took my time to get up the stairs because I didn’t want anyone to know that we were here. But, I bet all the money in the Swiss Bank that they knew that we were there.
Abi closely followed me behind, and she walked up to me and whispered in my ear, “There’s one on the other side of the door, and it’s leaning up against the metal wall; I’ll take care of it.” I heard her footsteps walk up to the door, and suddenly pulses of electricity appear out of nowhere and they run through the door; all I heard after that was a body drop to the metal ground.
Slowly the door opened by its self because of Abi, and what I saw was repulsive. A woman’s body lay on the ground; she was charred to the bone and a horrible smell. Her frizzed hair was standing straight up, and she was twitching uncontrollably—I bet she was already dead.
I stepped over her body and began to walk in the pristine, white hallways, and they were dead silent like all of the hallways in this building. But, out of the blue a blood curdling scream come from down the very hallway that I was standing in, and I heard Abi’s footsteps running towards the scream. “Arthur!” She yelled while sprinting down the hallway, and then her suit malfunctioned and she was now visible.
At the end of the hallway was a steel door, Abi swiped the key card and ran in. I closely followed her behind, and when I poked my head in I saw Arthur Monsoon laying on a table strapped to it; he was being cut up by Stryker. He screamed in pain, my hatred poured from my body, so I loaded an arrow into my bow and aimed at Stryker.
