Chapter 8- It's Okay

I left the body to the rats. I can get the bones later, those are easy to dispose of. I head upstairs to clean myself. Adam won’t find the body, he knows not to go into my lab. I sighed contently at my success.

I managed to get to my room without being seen, and I changed quickly. I then left the room, and went to the dining room, where I see Adam and Caron eating lunch. They knew of each other, but Adam, a true believer in miracles, just thought that Caron made some magical recovery. 

“How’s lunch?” I asked. They both looked up, and nodded. I joined them after making my own meal, and we talked idly until the conversation turned to Dean.

“So, he just left after you gave him the medicine?” Adam asked.

“Yes, he seemed to be feeling much better as well,” I replied, while looking Caron directly in the eyes, telling him a whole other story.

“It seems your medicinal prowess is still unchallenged,” he said, and I nodded. A smile crept onto his face. “How long did it take for him to ‘feel better?’”

“A few minutes, actually,” I stated. The conversation left the topic after that. The rest of the day was uneventful. I occupied myself making medicine for Révere and anyone else who I knew happened to need it.

I fell asleep that night worn out. The medicine making wasn’t going well, but of course, having a dead body in your workplace will do that to anyone, which is also the reason I never dwell on my murders. I might slip up if I do that.

“It’s okay,” I said to no one in particular, “Everything is just fine. No one will ever find out.” I wasn’t convinced. I shouldn’t have had to say it to myself. I was losing my confidence.

        I slept fitfully that night.

AN: Sorry this took so long for something so short. I knew where I wanted to go but for some reason couldn't get there until now. That and I was having internet troubles, go figure.
