Louis and Harry were sat on the plush couch in their hotel suite in New York playing Mario Kart. At a desperate attempt to take the lead, Louis jumped on Harry trying to block his view of the screen.
"Lou! Get off! Thats not fair!" Harry complained trying to keep a straight face.
Louis put his hand over Harry's eyes while Harry's arm flailed around trying to reach for Louis' controller to confiscate it. Rather than find the controller his blind grab landed on Louis' side and he pinched the older boy sending him even further over his lap in a fit of laughter. Harry laughed and refocused his attention on the screen in front of him, but soon Louis was back up and grabbing at the Harry's remote, both trying to temper their laughter, pretending they were still interested in winning the game. But both are more aware then they should be of the way Louis is spread across Harry's lap, his small hips just barely hovering over the younger boy's crotch. Louis' eyes flick down and he bights at his lip as he tries to hold himself up. Harry just stares unblinking at the screen, willing himself not to look down, not to close the gap between himself and the older boy with just a slight shift of weight.
A knock at the door startles both boys and Louis falls on Harry, both collapsing into another fit of laughter. Their limbs too entangled for them to get up they holler out an almost incomprehensible "Its open!" through their laughter.
The door opens and both boys turn expecting to see one of the other mates walking in. What they see makes all the laughter in them freeze as the boys stare in shock at the blonde, blue eyed girl who just walked in.
Noticing their discomfort, Taylor spoke up to break the tension.
"Hi, Harry." Her voice was timid.
The boys broke out of their stupor and Louis practically jumped out of Harry's lap as Harry struggled to get up from the couch to give Taylor a kiss on the cheek.
"Taylor... Hi... um ... hi .... We-um-we were just playing some Mario Kart. Oh... um... you know Louis right?"
"Yea of course" came Taylor's polite response.
"We are sorta famous mate" Louis voice cut in with a forced chuckle, trying to break the awkward air with humor.
A forced laugh rippled around the room. They continued to stare at each other in silence.
"Mario Kart?" Taylor's voice broke the silence, and surprisingly held a hint of excitement.
"What?" Harry's voice startled.
"You said you guys were playing Mario Kart, right?"
"Oh! Yea... um... you...you play-you want to play?"
"Yea, sure"
"Oh... um... ok - yea - lets ... um... lets play" Harry seemed to be asking a question rather than making a statement. He realized for the first time that they were still standing awkwardly in front of the couch rather than sitting.
Taking note of his confusion, Taylor moved to sit on the small couch. Louis immediately slid down to the floor. Harry started out of his daze and moved to grab Taylor a remote out of the basket and sit next to her on the couch. He sat on the opposite end of the couch from her, so Taylor shuffled herself a little closer to him.
"So ... um ... you press this button to go ... and ... um ... then you just steer" Harry started pointing out the right buttons on the controller awkwardly trying to explain what they do.
"I know how to play, Harry"
"Oh-um-ok... lets play then"
Harry picked out a course, choosing Mushroom Gorge because it was the easiest for beginners.
