At the end of Chapter 5:  I fought the primal urge to flee with everything I had because I had no doubt it would chase me. My only chance was to stand my ground and let it get within touching distance. It came closer until it stood right in front of me. I looked up at it. It was now or never. Don't move. Don't. Move. Please, baby, don't move. I'm almost there. A desperate plea that only I could hear. It was followed by a deafening roar but I ignored it. I raised my hand slowly and lightly touched the creature's chest where the ragged fur showed raw skin. I let my mind open up like a flower, unlocked the cage and freed my darkness. It slithered from me unseen and clamped its sticky tendrils into the creature's mind. It was now my puppet and at that moment, I was invincible.

Can's POV:

I was leaning against my motorcycle, waiting impatiently. She should have been here by now. I texted Metin but he hadn't seen her yet. Maybe she changed her mind. Maybe she realized how fucked up all of this was. Heart racing, I pulled my phone out again to call her. I didn't care if I sounded desperate. Then her name flashed on the screen at that moment and I closed my eyes in relief.

"Where are you?"

"I had to take a long way around and... Oh, my god!"

"Sanem?" There was a loud noise and the line went dead.

I jumped on my bike without a second thought. A million scenarios were playing in my head, each more gruesome than the last. I took off like the hounds of hell were at my heels and called Metin. "Where the fuck are you?

"I'm right here."

"For fuck's sake! Call Osman and then go find her. She's out somewhere in the vicinity. I think..." I broke off as an image flashed in my mind, as clear as a photograph. I almost crashed the damn bike. Fear, like I've never known before, sickening and paralyzing fear, slid thickly over me. I was seeing what she was seeing. A werewolf, emaciated, and clearly starving, was coming right at her. The terror I felt at that moment was indescribable. Then another image. I caught a glimpse of the cross street and I sped up. Mentally, I shouted words to her, hoping that my suspicions were true and she could hear me through our fledgling bond.

Don't move. Don't. Move.

The werewolf stepped closer to her.

Please, baby, don't move. I'm almost there, I pleaded desperately.

A roar escaped me. The urge to shift was overwhelming. Claws slid out with my wolf prowling angrily beneath my skin. It sensed a threat to its mate and wanted to annihilate everyone in her proximity. I fought the urge until it subsided enough for me to be able to function. But if anything happened to her, these streets would be painted in blood. The the man and the wolf would both make sure of it. I cut off that line of thought and took a sharp turn and there she was, whole and seemingly unharmed. I barely registered the fact that an unhinged, bloodthirsty werewolf was calmly loping away from her. All I saw was my lodestar, the light that beckoned me out of the shadows.

Sanem's POV:

"You're okay, you're okay," he kept repeating it like a mantra. Running agitated hands over my arms and up and down my back. Nuzzling my face and neck.

"What was that?" I asked dazedly. The adrenaline had deserted me. Now I was cold and my teeth were chattering.

"An abomination. Something that shouldn't exist. Goddammit, this is exactly what I didn't want!" The words exploded out of him.
