"Where are we going dad?" I ask as he gets into the car, shaking slightly.
"I'm taking you to a special place, my little подснежник (Snowdrop). " he responds almost robotically.
After about 45 minutes of driving dad pulls up in front of a really big abandoned looking building. As I look at the building I get a chill up my spine and my stomach is filled with nervousness. Dad seems to notice my unease and attempts to give me a reassuring smile but it doesn't reach his eyes. I finally get the courage ask him,
"D-dad why are we here? Is this the special place you w-were talking about?" The longer we sat in the car the more uneasy I felt. Dad exhales loudly slightly shaking his head.
"You always were smarter than your age подснежник. You remind me so much of your mother. Just know that no matter what, I love you so much Christina, my daughter." He gets out, opens my door and offers his hand out to me. I take it and get out of the car getting more and more scared. A man in some sort of uniform opens one of the doors to the "Abandoned" building and I jump a bit at the sudden action . Dad takes my hand and enters the building while nodding to the man who opened the door. He leads me further into the building and down a few flights of stairs before we reach a door. My dad takes out a keycard I didn't know that he had and scans it at the door.
As we enter the door, everyone in the big room stop what they were doing and look at us. I shrink back behind dad in fear and squeeze his hand. At the far end of the room, a man with light blonde hair and glasses stands with another man with shoulder length brown hair and a cold, distant stare. The blonde man calls out to my father, "Ah Sullivan! So nice to see you. Come into my office and we can talk there." My dad swallows and starts walking forward so I follow after him. We reach a door that the blonde man is standing next to while the brown haired man stands at his side. The Blonde man gestures for us to enter his office so we do, with those two following us inside and the brown haired man shuts the door behind us.
"I see you brought what you promised" Blonde man says said looking at me in a way that made my skin crawl. I look down at my shoes and try to think of anything other than the man staring at me. I get startled by my dad patting my shoulder and look up at the man in front of me.
"Oh how rude of me, I didn't even introduce myself to this little beauty here. Hello Christina, my name is Alexander Pierce and this is the Asset" I just stood stalk still unsure of what was going to happen to me. My dad nudged my side and nodded his head towards this "Alexander" as if saying that I needed to aknowledge him.
"H-hello sir. N-nice to m-meet you both.." I say, my whole body trembling. "If I may ask, why am I here?" Alexander gave a hearty laugh and said,
"Oh sweetie, there is no need to be afraid. You are going to help make the world a better place. Now your father tells me that not only are you incredibly smart and that you have skipped a few grades, but that you also are very good with mechanics."
"Yes sir. I helped my dad fix up a 1964 Baracuda when I was 7 and I am constantly tinkering with things trying to improve them." I say, still uneasy but feeling a bit proud of myself for my talents. Alexander nods and says to my father,
"Well now that she's here, you are free to go. Say goodbye to her then you can leave I'll escort you outside." My dad then turned to me with a sad smile and said "Remember these words подснежник. Anything you want comes through hard work. I love you very much but this is where I leave you Christina." He gives me a hug and a kiss on the head as I cry silently. Alexander gets up from his chair at his desk goes over to may dad and leads him out of the office.
I start sobbing as the gravity of the situation finally hits me. My dad left me. I let out a small scream as I feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn around and come face to face with the brown haired man. tears still streaming down my face, he says "It's okay, little one. Don't be sad. I'll protect you." I sniffled and half smiled and said "thank you. If you don't mind me asking, what is your name ,sir?" He stiffens and says "I'm not sure, but they call me the Winter Soldier." I frown slightly. 'He doesn't know his own name?' I look back up at him and say nervously "I-is it okay if I call you Winnie? Just when it's you and I?" He pondered the idea for a moment before giving me a nod implying that it was okay with him.
"What do you want to call me? When we're by ourselves?" I ask curiously. Winnie looks down and furrows his eyebrows together in thought. He looks back up at me and says timidly "Can I call you what your father did?" I smile and nod happily saying " Well my mom gave me that name. But she uh... she died when I was 5, so I don't remember much of her." A sad smile makes its way to my face as a few new tears make their way down my cheeks. Winnie is about to wipe them away but the door to the office opens and he stands up straight and his eyes go back to looking like stone.
"So, Christina. Now that your father isn't here, let me tell what's going to happen. You will be made into someone new. The Asset here will be your teacher in all combat skills. But what's going to happen now, is we need to run some tests so follow me please." All 3 of us leave his office and turn down some hallways until we get to what looks like some sort of lab with a metal table in the middle of the room. I happen to look at one of the trays and on it is a pair of bloody scissors and a few bloody scalpels. My eyes widen in fear and as I try to run put of the room two guards grab onto my arms and try to drag me away. "NO! NO! HELP! WHAT ARE YOU DOING! PLEASE NO! NO, NO, NO!
"CHRISTINA WAKE UP!" Tony's voice registers in my mind and I shoot up out of bed and get into a fighing stance. Once I see who it is, I drop my stance and stand, shaking.
"T-tony?" I ask, my voice raspy and dry sounding as I look at him with wide eyes. He walks over to me and leads me to the edge of my bed, sitting down on it. As soon as I was sitting my bed, I started sobbing loudly, Tony hugging me and rocking me gently while I wailed like a banshee.
"Shhh Tina, it's okay. You're okay, you're here. It was just a nightmare." I shake my head violently while sobbing into his shoulder still. "No, it wasn't it was a memory. I felt it Tony, all of the fear and panic. it's like I was 10 again." Tony just continues to hold me while my heaving sobs slowly turn into slow heavy breaths. I yawn and begin to fall asleep so Tony lays me down and tuck me in.
"Tony can you stay, please? I can't be alone right now." I whisper softly, my voice hoarse from crying and screaming. Instead of a verbal response, all I felt was my bed sheets moving and felt my mattress dip as he laid down.
"Thank you, pops." I whisper, falling asleep as my eyes grew heavy. right as I was about to drift off into sleep again, I thought I heard Tony say,
"Anything for you, kiddo."
(A/N) Hey guys! So this was kinda a filler chapter but I will be slightly editing this story to fit with my new story line. This will still be a Steve x OC fanfic, but it will be slightly different from the original plot I had. Some future chapters might be like this one where it's an dream/nightmare so it explains more of Christina's past. Enough of me though Thank you to anyone who's reading and sorry if my grammer is horrible I wrote this very late at night.
