Three Unsaid Words

~A lot of Bad Luck #1~

 I was late again to class, Jack was right next to me riding on his bike, I was riding my skateboard. I almost fell and Jack started laughing.

"What's so funny?" I asked

"You," Jack replied

"Oh really? How funny I guess my life is as funny as yours since your in it." I said back at him

"Whatever. Hurry up we're late again to the first day of school just like last year for 6th grade. Why didn't you ask your mom to just drive us?' Jack asked me

"Oh yeah, it's easy when your mom's a lawyer right?" I said at him sarcastically 

He rolled his eyes and started speeding up. I rolled my eyes back at him and rode right past him. I started laughing.

"Hey!" He said trying to catch up to me

"What? You did it first. Did you really expect me to just not race you? Oh, look there's the school!" I yelled at him as I started speeding up faster. 

"Whatever. Wait up." 

When We arrived

I ran to the office and asked for my schedule and my locker number. Jack started shoving past me to get his.

"Can your fat ass like not?" I asked him

"Language girls." The Office lady said

"oh, I'm sorry," I replied sarcastically

"Well now we know one thing we're both girls," I said chuckling. 

"Yeah whatever but I'm the cute one." He said

Our lockers were right next to each other. 

"Great more bad luck," I said 

"I mean it isn't that bad is it?" He said

"I mean for you no but for me, it is," I replied

He rolled his eyes and started walking to his first class. I started walking behind. We entered our first class. 

"Ok everyone, my name is Miss Mayhem. I will be your English Langauge Arts teacher. And I don't want lovey-dovey things in this class. If I catch one of you CHILDREN cursing in this class you'll get in big trouble. And I hope this 7th-grade year will be perfect for you kids. Now behave finish your homework. You'll get homework from me today because I'm the best." Miss Mayhem said smiling at everyone

Everyone in the class sighed very loudly. Miss Mayhem laughed and rolled her eyes in a joking way. 

Miss Mayhem was really pretty she was wearing flower earrings with her hair tied up in a messy bun. Her hair was a raven color and she was wearing a black button-up shirt with a suit jacket over it. She was wearing white scrubs and had a lavender scrunchy on her left hand. I'm guessing she's lefthanded. 

Miss Mayhem went over to the board and started writing something on it. The chalkboard decorated with chalk and the date on the upper left side. She had her name right above the date. I was right that she was left-handed. She wrote Phases and Clauses on the board. 

"So I know you learned this last year but we're just going to review everything one by one." Miss Mayhem said with a comforting tone in her voice. She looked over at the clock to check how much time we had left before we had to switch to 2nd period. 

I took out my notebook to start taking notes. 

"Okay, so we have one hour and 10 minutes. Thank you umm..sorry honey what's your name?" Miss Mayhem said looking over at me.

I smiled at her and replied "My name is Rebecca...Rebecca Jackson." 

"Oh ok thank you, Rebecca. Thank you for having your notebook out for notes." She said smiling as if wanting the whole class to take notes

Everyone in the class looked at me and then took out their notebooks. And started writing the date at the top of the paper along with their names.  

Miss Mayhem started talking about Phrases and Causes.

"Okay, so let's see." She said taking out a book and held it in her right arm and started writing something on the chalkboard. She then read out loud what she wrote on the board. 

"Okay, let's see...does anyone know what Phrases and Clauses?" Miss Mayhem asked the class. I looked around to see if anyone would raise their hands but no one did so I decided to just say it.

"A phrase is a group of words that acts as a single part of speech. A phrase can act as any part of speech, such as a noun, adjective, adverb, or preposition. And finally, a phrase never included the subject of the sentence acting through a verb-" I said before finishing and getting cut off by a cough coming from Jack. 

"Umm. Thank you very much, Miss Jackson. Now we're going to skip the definitions of Phrases since Miss Jackson already said it for us. I'm just going to show you some examples." She said before going to the board and started writing examples of Phrases. 

"Now let's read these examples: First we have Martinique's favorite sweater was handing from the line. So here Martinique's favorite sweater is underlined can someone please tell me why?" Miss Mayhem said looking at the class. 

"It's a group of words acting as a noun," I said smiling. Everyone in the class looked at me with wide eyes. I decided to stop because I didn't want to be called the teacher's pet. 

"Yes very good. Now our next example is Saskia found the sunset to be heart-stoppingly beautiful. Now that's underlined because the group of words is acting like adjectives. Now let's go to the next example Before class, I crammed for the test. Now can I have someone tell me why those words are underlined?" Miss Mayhem said smiling at the class. Everyone looked at me. I shook my head and just wrote something in my notebook. I knew that they knew that I did know the answer. I had always studied over the summer I didn't want to get bad grades when I went to school in the first trimester. I looked over at Jack as he was looking at me. I gave him the look of "Answer her, we all know that you know it" He looked at me and rolled his eyes.

"It's underlined because the group of words is trying to disguise themselves as adverbs," Jack said sounding annoyed

"Thank you...Ummm." Miss Mayhem said

"Jack, Jack Wilson," Jack said in an annoyed tone

"Yes thank you, Jack. Now let's get to the next example. Percy took his pet lizard into the house. Which words should be underlined here and why?" Miss Mayhem said

I looked back at Jack because he knew the answer and so did I but I didn't want to sound like a nerd. Jack gave me this annoyed look and started talking.

"Into the house should be underlined because those group of words is acting like prepositions," Jack said smiling right after

"Yes thank you." Miss Mayhem said smiling. Jack looked at me and smiled sarcastically. I rolled my eyes and looked back at the teacher as she was erasing something on the chalkboard. She wrote something else quickly after she erased what she had written earlier. 

" Ok, let's see...I don't want you to answer but What are Noun Phrases? Well, a noun phrase is a phrase that acts as a noun. For example, let's look at this sentence, The royal chef baked approximately 24 pies.  These words act like nouns."  Miss Mayhem said looking at the time

"Okay, so you guys have 10 minutes left of class so I'm going to let you guys go early. Bye guys have a great day. I learn your names tomorrow. And don't worry I'm not actually giving you homework.
