It was my last day of school here at Beauxbatons and I was finishing packing my things into my cases, getting ready for the journey home to Monaco.
My parents had sent me a letter a few weeks ago to let me know that, come the end of the school year, we would be moving to Great Britain. My father, who worked for the ministry of magic's international cooperations department in Monte Carlo, was being transferred to their British office. I had begged my parents to let me remain at Beauxbatons but they had decided that I would be transferred to the wizarding school more nearby to them.

As I put away the last of my things, I looked around my room with a sad smile. I was going to miss it here. I adored this school. I adored the people. I had learnt so much in the years that I had attended. I had become accustomed to my lessons and my activities that I participated in and wondered what a new school could possibly offer me compared to Beauxbatons...

At fourteen years of age, I was what the upper class members of the wizarding society would call 'the perfect lady', as so many of us were taught to be at Beauxbatons. I had been top of my class since my first year at Beauxbatons. I spoke 6 languages fluently; English (my first language), French, Russian, Italian, German and Portuguese. I am also a parcel mouth, but I don't know if that would count as another language and I tended to keep that one to myself... It seemed to freak people out...
I played the piano and guitar at an advanced level, and was not a terrible singer either. I was an award winning figure skater, having won in last years WizOlympics, representing Beauxbatons. I was perfectly versed in social graces and upper class cultural rites. I balanced my magical curriculum and lessons with things like etiquette and dance lessons and while Beauxbatons conforms to the use and practice of wand magic, we were also taught diplomacy, how to handle situations diplomatically and also wandless magic.

I had been considered well ahead of my level in my magical classes, especially with wandless magic. Madame Maxine had once told me that I was beyond even her own level of wandless magic, but nobody could really explain why. It was always just chalked up to it being a gift. I wasn't anybody special, or from a long line of power... That I knew of at least...

I was just Annabelle Aurelia Avery, the adopted daughter of Xavier and Ariana Avery.
My parents had been very honest with me about adopting me, but couldn't give me much information about who my birth parents were, as they didn't even know. My parents had been deemed infertile after years of trying for their own child and when they were given the opportunity to take a baby with no other information about who I was or where I came from, they took me, no questions asked. All they knew, was that my name was Annabelle Aurelia, and that was to remain my name.
There were only three people outside of my parents that new of my adoption; Albus Dumbledore, the head master of Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Sirius Black, who I visited monthly and wrote to regularly, as he was imprisoned in Azkaban. And Remus Lupin, a close friend of Sirius, who was supposedly the one who handed me over to the Avery's, under the order of Dumbledore, right on the end of the first wizarding war.

Now, here I was, walking down the steps of my dortoir for the last time. We had one final assembly before we would be sent home and as I walked down the steps to the grand hall, I felt an aching sadness at everything and everyone I was leaving behind.

"Annabelle!", I heard behind me as I walked toward the grand hall. I turned to see my best friends rushing towards me.

"Amelie! Gabrielle! Esme! Ça y est ... Pouvez-vous le croire!", I whispered sadly as they hugged me and we continued into the hall, taking our seats in the middle of the hall.
(This is it... Can you believe it!)

"Annabelle, tu ne peux pas nous quitter! Que ferons-nous sans vous?", Gabrielle whimpered sadly.
(Annabelle, you just cant leave us! What will we do without you?)
