Ever since I was young I've always felt special. Like I was destined for greatness. That I would do something worth remembering, but I've been here 17 years and the only thing I've done is fail more classes than anyone in my school. I'm not going to summer school though even though my mom is trying to force me to go, I refuse to waste my summer. " Terrell come and eat breakfast " my mother yelled to me from the kitchen.
I leave my room and run down the stairs and walk through the living room into the kitchen and sit down at the table. She places a plastic plate of eggs with cheddar cheese corn beef hash and grits in front of me, my favorite. I dive in immediately enjoying and savoring every bite, my mother cuts on the tv. " another person has gone missing this week, can you explain what you saw? " A lady walked up to the man holding the microphone, you could tell that she had been crying. " we were walking home when I big beam of light blinded me and by the time the light disappeared she was gone." "Mom can you please change the channel I hate the news." She looks at me with a what ever look, she thinks the news is good to watch, I think it's controlled to show us what they want to show us.
I finished my plate threw it in the garbage and went to the living room to sit on the couch and make plans to chill with my friends tonight. I get three replies, all saying yeah and I go up stairs and go lay on my bed, the good food gave me the itis. I turn on my tv and to see teen titans on, my favorite show. I try to keep my eyes open but my bed just feels too comfortable so I fall asleep.
I wake up and notice it's dark outside so I look at my phone to see what time it is. 7:35 and two missed calls and a voicemail, I listen to it. "Hey Terrell me James and Charlie are here by the train tracks waiting for you hurry up" I throw on some fresh clothes and run down the steps " be careful honey!" I hear my mom yell as I run out the door.
I see them walking along the train tracks and jog to catch up to them and we walk together and chat. We all have been friends since the 5th grade and we always take walks by the tracks and talk about any and everything. "Terrell I heard your going to summer school" James says with a little chuckle, "nah I'm not going I'll just do extra work in class and stuff when school starts I'm not losing my summer." I replied chuckling back at him.
"I heard Ashley is talking to you now Terrell ." Charlie said with a smile on his face that showed that his sentence meant more than what it seemed. "Nah we're just friends and how did you hear this?" I said, "she told me" he said laughing, "me too" James said, "she told me too" Peter said. We all started laughing when Charlie pointed out a star brighter than the rest, "what you wanna make a wish?" I said laughing at the thought. The light grew brighter "damn it's almost blinding." James said, the light shot down over us and by then we could tell it was not a star so we started running along the tracks but it was pointless because it was with us every step. A bright light shot down and blinded me.
Once the light disappeared and my eyes were able to focus again, my heart dropped as I became confused and scared. How? How could this be? The sun high in the sky and shining its bright light down on me. I looked at my phone and saw two missed calls from "mom" and a voicemail that I'll listen to later. I look around, James, Peter and ... where's Charlie? " where's Charlie?" I asked James and Peter looking at their puzzled faces trying to figure out what's happened "I don't know" James said, "maybe he went home already" Peter says while digging into his pocket for his phone. " I gotta get home guys, I'll call you guys later."
