Chapter 2
Silven
My wings flap, they beat on my back. My head twitches, the extreme heat burning my slimy body. I am in the murky pit called Hell, the embers smoke from the ground. Slowly, my hands slip on my cell bars. I rattle them, howling in anger. They burn my inflamed skin. Lucifer howls in the cage next to mine. How did it get to this? I was second in command. The loyal servant to Lucifer. Lucifer, the King of Hell. All the other demons looked up to me in fear. My every demand would be obeyed. Lucifer would ask me for my service, I was an asset to Hell. I am the strongest of my type of demon alive. Yet, Lucifer got himself overthrown by his dreadful daughter. Leaving Lucifer and I powerless in our own home.
Simply Alex is to blame.
Lucifer's demons haven't tried to save us. Instead, they torture us, at Alex's demand. Long nails wrap around the cage bars. Alex, the little bitch. If only she had stayed dead. A stupid old dead witch resurrected her with more power than she had before. All Lucifer wanted was that power and she stole it to save a couple of humans, her brother and his wife. Pathetic! Lucifer deserved it more.
No-one is loyal to Lucifer, they are loyal to whoever is the most powerful. They will do anything to save themselves. All except me. I would rather be tortured for eternity or killed than to switch sides. My situation is temporary. I plan to get out of Hell and go to Earth. I will find a way for my King to rule once more. Also to seize my revenge and kill Alex. My nails clink on the metal bars. My time will come. The iron door swings open, ready for my daily dose of torture. I don't care. The more time out of my cell, the more time I have, to plan my escape. Plotting routes to escape to my well-deserved freedom.

I watch Colt get in the car, Abby too. I could magic them a portal. They would be there in an instant, but Colt wouldn't appreciate that. Abby is human and fragile. A portal would make her uneasy. Unlike me, I was born what I am, Colt was turned, like Holly. In my many hundred years of life, no turned human takes it well. Magic flickers from my fingertips. Warlock Hellhound. Hybrids are rare but they happen. Most hybrids are born that way. My mother was a Warlock and my father was a Hellhound. Luckily, they were both powerful for their kind, making me equally powerful as both.
Memories of my parents flash in my mind, I shake my head. No. I won't think about them. Relaxing, my glamour falls, goat horns appear on my head. One broken in half, the stub sharp. My eyes glow, fire reflecting in their glow. The eyes of my father, the horns from my mother. Touching the broken horn, I can remember that day vividly, it was the first day I could enjoy the sweet smell of dew in the forest after many years of captivity. I push that thought away too.
I stand abruptly, my magic had taken the body away. I sent the body to a ravine no-one will find it. I thought Abby would be pleased, she wasn't. I don't understand humans. They have the death penalty. They believe in punishment but are horrified when someone actually carries it out. I killed that werewolf fairly. It attacked Colt, I had the choice of Colt or the lone werewolf. I picked Colt. The only unjustifiable murder is that of the innocent. That werewolf wasn't innocent.
Running my hands through my hair, my palm scratches a horn. I use a glamour to hide my goat horns, so humans don't see them. Personally, I don't mind them, nor try to hide them. I used to not bother with a glamour. I don't care what people think. But Colt does. He hates drawing attention or being called a freak. So, I hide them for his sake, when we are in the human's sight. I refuse to go to college. I've been, I went to university as well. That was centuries ago.
Colt is a young vampire, he was only turned a few years back. That day plays vividly in my head. Colt was so lost, crying, covered in blood, fangs hanging out his mouth. Colt had killed the vampire that killed him. Colt didn't want to be a vampire, but slowly, he's accepting it. I am glad he's come a long way from that poor child I rescued. I know why Colt wants to help them. He was once in their place, he wants to do what I did for him. He wants to give back, also he feels guilty. It was his party. At our home. The party I begrudgingly let him throw so he could connect with the humans.
