III. The Project

Elizabeth's P.O.V.

Then the bell rang immediately, as if it was trying hard to interrupt our conversation on purpose. Almost everyone in the group sighed deeply and we started walking to our class.

Meliodas' P.O.V.

I've separated my path with the group to warn zeldris. "Zel, we're not in the same class." I giggled like I always do. "Hey, are you here now?" I asked, he was clearly not listening to me.

"Yoo, zel. Come back to the realityyy!" I said, a little louder than last time. He finally looked at me, confused.

"Huh? Wha- what are you saying?"

"Zel. First off, why do you not listen to me and where did you go in that big mind of yours? Second off, you need to go to your classroom. Y'know, since we're not in the same class." I said as fast as I can because the lesson was about to start.

"I'm sorry, I've been thinking about the goddess Elizabeth. I want to know why she doesn't recognize either of us. Did she lose her memories or something?"

"Maybe... But she looks different too. This is just unusual. But I'll take care of it later. Let's just keep pretending, we wouldn't like to leak anything we hide. Would we now?"

"No, we wouldn't. But we'll talk about this later on and I need to get ready for the stupid lesson. See you, meli!"

I nodded "Yeah, we will... See you too!".

I started to walk for my classroom as I watched him rushing to his class. Ahh, is this plan really going to work?

I entered the class and sat next to her.

"Your brother was kind of distracted. Was it the school stress or something like that?" she asked innocently, if I can call her innocent, I mean...

"Yes, sort of..." I lied quickly. I mean, how was I supposed to tell her that she was the main reason?

Elizabeth's P.O.V.

"Ok. By the way, I heard that the teacher is going to assign us a group project." I said, hoping not to be with him. Because I was feeling awkward. I don't know what all this is about, I just don't want to stay alone with him. I just can't make myself embarrassed in front of him! I yelled at myself mentally as hard as possible.

"Oh, really? I wonder what it is about. And how many people will there be in each group? Do you know that?" He asked curiously.

"I think two. But I'm not really sure, to be honest." I replied, not sure about my answer.

"Oh, ok. We'll see then, I hope I'll get to be with one of you guys at least." He said cutely, Nooo! I actually didn't call one of my friends cute! I didn't, right? Ellie, stop it. Stop. It!

I was probably going to start blushing. So I tried to hide my cheeks as possible as I could. I don't think it worked though.

Anyway, the teacher came in. Finally, she just saved me from a big mess!

"Hi, class! Today, as some of you heard, we will be making a group project. There will be groups of two." she started.

A hand was raised immediately. I kind of felt what the question was going to be about, so I whispered to myself "She was going to explain your question's answer right now if you didn't interrupt her."

"Yes... What is it, Ayaki?" She said, annoyed because of the interruption.

"What are we going to do? And will we be paired up with our deskmates?" Ayaki asked. I actually didn't think about the second question, but she was eventually going to explain it. So, it was still unnecessary for him to ask.

"Each group will be given a topic at science. Since I am your science teacher, I believe that was obvious. Then, you will make a presentation about the topic you've been given... I want your presentations to be clear and short as possible... Plus, both of the people in the group have to talk unless they want to get low grades. Of course you also need to work together, I don't want only one person to do all the job. Understood?" she explained and asked seriously.

We all nodded with fear, because she was too scary and serious when it comes to projects.

"I almost forgot... And yes, you will be paired up with your deskmates." she added. I was screaming in my mind. The only thing that I didn't want it to happen just happened. I've been paired up with Meliodas... I really AM unlucky!

He turned his face with a small smile on his face. OK, I really have to admit that he was so adorable at that moment.

"Yess! Lucky me, we've been paired up! Wait, Elizabeth... Is it not ok that we are a group at this project?" he asked, his smile dropped and turned into a sad curiosity.

"No- no! Not at all! I really AM happy! Why would you think that?!" I tried to deny it as hard as I could.

"Fine then. Let's pay attention to our lesson." he said like he didn't really believe me. NO! I don't want him to think I don't like him. It's just- I- I just love him! Ok? I confessed, are you happy now?!

Meliodas' P.O.V.

Wait, did she realize who I am?! Why is she not happy to be a pair with me? I thought she loved friendship and stuff. Was I wrong? And we'll get to know each other this way. I thought the project would make her even happier. What is wrong with her?! Ugh, I need to know why she acts like this!

Elizabeth's P.O.V.

I was sad to break his excitement. Why did I even do that?! I need to make it up to him somehow. I can't just let him think I don't like him at all.

"...Meliodas and Elizabeth, your presentation will be about the first 20 element... Ayagiri and Yoshita, your presentation will be about the elements between 20th and 40th..." she kept telling the topics.
