Outdoor lunch  party at Meredith's, COVID era

Jo, Jackson, Cormac, Meredith, Amelia, Link, Maggie, Arizona

It's been a month since Meredith finally got better from COVID and she is hosting an outdoor lunch with some of the doctors.

It was a clear Seattle summer day which was rare since well its Seattle. Grey-Sloan had just had their weekly hospital wide COVID testing and Meredith decided to host an outside brunch with some of the doctors that tested negative since they hadn't hung out together in awhile.

"Jo come in, you can wear your mask if you feel more comfortable but we all tested negative and the tables are distanced by quarantine groups just to be safe"
"That's a good idea, thanks for having me Mer"
"You are quarantining with Jackson right?"
"Yes and Levi and I guess also Nico now haha"
"It's great to see you smile how are you liking your OB fellowship?"
"I love it, it's so refreshing to bring a new life into this world and seeing that pure joy on the parents faces in the mist of all of this"
" I feel you"
"Hey Heyyyy" said Amelia as she walked out of the house.
"Hey Amelia I'm going to check on the food, I'll be right back"
Meredith said as she smiled and walked inside.
"Oh my gosh Amelia you look great it's been awhile, how are you doing?" Jo said.
"It sure has, don't get me wrong I love staying at home with Scout and my nieces and nephew but I'm dying to cut I haven't been in an OR since— wow two months ago."
"Totally get that. I heard you are coming back Link told me you guys and Mer and scheduling a childcare schedule where one of you stays home with all of the kids for a week at a time?"
Jo asked Amelia.
" Yes we are still working it out but something like that."
Meredith walked inside of the house and grabbed the snacks and put them on a table outside then walked back in when the door bell rang.
"Coming!" She yelled
The food was sitting on the porch, thank goodness for door dash she thought, with her 3 kids, baby nephew, COVID life and Maggie not there to help out as much because she was taking lots of COVID icu shifts she had no time for actual cooking— not that she used to cook much anyway.
As she walked inside with her first load of the carry out bags as she heard some one walk up to the porch.
"Need some help?" Said Cormac in his thick Irish accent that never failed to send shivers down Meredith's spine.
She turned around and smiled, "Would love some"
Her smile and sparkling blue eyes always caused Cormac's mood to be happier.
Before COVID they had their usual elevator conversations and drinks in their offices, they found themselves looking more and more forward to them having their small interactions and trying to bump into each other just to see each other more. They had exchanged 2 kisses one at a Christmas party where Amelia, Maggie and Jo practically forced them to "accidentally" find each other under the mistletoe and one in Cormac's office after they both had bad days and got a little tipsy. Both of them shook them off the next day blaming it on the drinking or Meredith's sisters and friends  being funny because they both thought that there was no way they felt the same way about each other. But when Meredith's health was declining they shared a moment of realization when he told her how he felt and she said she felt the same way but both agreed to take it slow for the sake of Meredith being one of Cormac's firsts and to preserve their friendship.
After Meredith had fully recovered from covid they had started to spend more time together when they could. Though the "taking it slow" method they agreed on didn't last very long ;)

Authors Note: Let me know if you want a story about Meredith and Cormac's first night together! Give me any ideas you have for one shots or longer stories as well. I'm already working on the next chapter since this one was short, it should be out shortly.
