beep beep beep

your eyes shot open, but closed directly after, your pupils contracted, the morning sunlight piercing the comfortable state they were in. you sighed, overcome with a ton of emotions at once. today was the day you were finally going to college! but today was also the day you were leaving the only home you've ever been in. of course, you've been to sleepovers but that's nothing compared to four years, halfway across the country.

beep beep beep your alarm hollered again. annoyance sprouted in your head, but you tried to suppress it, especially today. today was a happy day! full of new changes! there was no way you would be sad today! with that thought, you slowly took your covers off, shivering from the august breeze. today was mildly windy. the sun was peaking through the clouds, and there was no sign of rain, thankfully. you turned, grabbing your phone, clicking stop on your alarms snooze option and arose as a college freshman.

the drive was horrendous. you had driven for two days straight, stopping at a sketchy motel halfway through. for the rest of the way, you were pretty sure bugs were crawling around your car, one even over your hermès sandal!!!!

you finally arrived at southwestern university, the beautiful buildings causing you to smile, but an eerie feeling was settling in your chest. it was time to let go of everything— and one you knew, and start a completely different life. at least my roommate isn't shit you though. you'd previously talked to her and got to know her, and she seemed like the best roommate anyone could ask for. she was nice, pretty, funny and smart. you two hit it off instantly, even planning on bringing gifts to each other for the first day. you smiled to yourself, envisioning all of the cute pics you guys could take, especially since you redid your whole wardrobe over the summer.

you parked in a parking spot, hands on the wheel, heart beating. you didn't know why you were nervous, and right now wasn't the time. your mom tapped on your drivers side window, and you rolled it down.

"i'm gonna put all your stuff on the luggage cart and me and your dad are gonna drive around the city and maybe get a bite to eat. i'll text you where we go in case you want to join us later." you smiled and nodded, accepting the offer. "i love you sweetie. i'm proud of you too! you got this!" you chuckled at the excitement in her voice. "love you too mommy." yes, you were the girl who still called her mom mommy. so what.

you walked up flights and flights of stairs, as the elevator had broken due to hundreds of people bringing their luggage onto it. however, you were only on the 5th floor. bad but not the worst.

your sandals clacked against the tile floor, causing other freshmen to look at you for split seconds. even though there was no interaction or no inclination they cared, self consciousness crept into your body, but you pushed it down, too excited to meet your new roommate! i wonder what her gift is gonna be omg i'm so excited! instead of opening the door to a beautiful brunette, you opened the door to moans and the oh so pleasant noise of skin slapping against each other.

"what the fuck?" you said loudly, causing the noises to stop, instead replaced by sheets being grabbed and moved quickly. you could hear a girl gasping and saying stuff, and you prayed to god that your first irl encounter with your roommate wouldn't be her fucking someone. a naked man popped his head out of one of the bedrooms doors. "ohh are you y/n! welcome home roomie." he laughed and walked out from behind the doorframe. everything was out, and when you said everything, you meant everything. you gagged when he extended his arms, expecting you to hug him. "cmon precious, you don't like what you see?" you gave him a disgusted look.

"i'm not even going to question who you are or what you're doing in my dorm but i know you aren't hannah." you crossed your arms, already tired of listening to his smug voice. "of course i'm not hannah," he replied. "things got switched last minute and hannah moved all the way to ucla! can you believe that! anyways, it's me and you now." the way it came out of his mouth was so uninterested and nonchalant, it was like it wasn't a life changing sentence.
