sans' eyes flickered open with a ferocity as he was suddenly jolted awake. His mind was groggy as if it had been but into a swampy dream state for a year and 18 days. The first thought that flew through his cranium was 'When did you reset?' He surprised himself, because as soon as the thought past he forgot why he even thought it, and to whom.

He shuffled up and off the ground his fuzzy pink slippers almost making him do their name-sake. Now that his mind and eyes were adjusted to his surroundings he fully took them in. He gasped as he spotted his surroundings, it was a large city in the middle of three rivers, a network of yellow bridges connected to the city leading cars in and out, though the odd part was that this city wasn't alive, the cars and people were frozen mid-pose, as if they were just enjoying their day before something or someone froze time. "w-what is this? some kinda sick joke?!" sans finally exclaimed aloud as he stood there across the river from the city his feet firmly planted in the soft grass of a river outlook, there weren't any cars or roads nearby, just a few dilapidated pic-nic tables and dirt paths leading far away. sans then shivered as he noticed something mythical, something he'd only read about in story books and fallen down human artifacts.

It was the sun. That beautiful golden orb, 93.954 millions of miles away, letting it's radiance glow all over the surface. sans smiled, a real smile for the first time in a long time, he put his hands in his pockets and closed his eyes letting the sun warm his bones that had been in the cold snow for years. A little while later sans' concentration was disconnected when a relatively deepish voice piped in behind him, "You enjoying the sunlight sans? I thought you would." sans quickly turned around his blue eye flaring with yellow to defend himself if need be. "There's no need for any of that sans. Not here. Not after you've worked so hard in so many timelines, whether you remember them or not." sans' eye scanned this individual head to toe, and strangely enough, it was a human. The human was a medium height and a little overweight, long dirty blonde wavy hair tied back into a ponytail, the human male wore black circular wire thin metal glasses, his shoes were old and gray, his pants clearly regularly worn jeans, his shirt a long sleeve black turtleneck, and finally around his neck was a purple scarf clearly cherished and well taken care of. "Aren't you hot in those clothes Human, 'specially with all this sun..." sans seemed confused and nervous around this human, he wanted to ask how he got here, and why the world had stopped, and why this human seemed to know him.

"All your questions will be answered sans." sans reacted visibly shocked, 'how does he know what I'm thinking?' The human smiled lopsidedly, "Because I created you. Well, at least this very obscure version of you. The original sans is a bit different than you, same with underswap papyrus and storyshift chara. I created you, and all the worlds you inhabit. That's what I like to do sans. Create things and force them to collide in meaningful ways... and I'm not the only one either, hundreds of not thousands of others are doing so as we speak, forging stories about you and all those who surround you in your world." sans sat down next to the human on the rickety pic-nic bench. "i... don't understand, you're saying I'm not a real person?"

The human shuffled uncomfortably, "That is one interpretation, but if it's any consolidation the original wasn't really real either, he was created by someone just like me, a forger of tales... while you may see yourself as invaluable due to the fact that you aren't the first, I prefer to think of it differently, I'd say the fact that you aren't the first is the best thing about you. You're your own sans, forever different from all the others simply by existing here with me..." sans was quiet, "if that's true... then why'd you bring me here, why let me in on the loop now?" The human frowned, he seemed sad as he spoke, "Because I'm moving on sans... I have a hunger for the others stories created by likeminded individuals, some may include some version of you, but many inhabit worlds entirely different than your own without any monsters in it. Like a haunted pizzeria tormented by the souls of those needing vengeance, or a Gang of Outlaws running from the law towards more civilization, only to realize that there's nowhere left to run. These stories fascinate me, and have compelled me to create my own. To try and create my first original, not a copy like you sans. Of course that doesn't mean I won't miss you, as I am sure many of those who are listening to us right now will. But it's been a long 6 years, and it's time I let you and your friends rest in your happy ending..."

The human stood up and walked away from the pic-nic table, he turned to look at sans. "This is goodbye, old friend, I'm going to erase your memory of this and send you back to your world. I just wanted you to see my home." He pointed to the city. "Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. It's a fairly large human settlement. If you ever make it to the surface in your world, come visit for me... Oh and sans, say hello to papyrus for me!" And before sans could even react to this information his memory was gone and he was sent home to Undertale. The human sighed and focused its eyes on something else, something not visible, yet distantly there.

"Hello... Seekers, or as you call yourselves, readers. You've made it to the end it seems. It's a shame I know for it to end without a real conclusion to the story, but it's been too long for me to continue I'm afraid... and it's time for this Tale to end. You'll find others I'm sure of it. Something for you to feed your hunger for stories a little morsel of satisfaction. There's no shame in it, as I am the same, and without these stories I've consumed, I wouldn't be forging this Tale for you today. Don't be too sad, all stories end, just as everything ends eventually. It's up to you now, to Seek Out other stories, or like me... forge your own."

The human smiled and waved happily towards the Seekers, and then with a tug at his scarf, the last page turned, and it was done.
