The phone continues to ring in Kyungmi's hand as she heats up water for the cat's milk. She's been waiting for her call to be answered by Yeosang, her other bestfriend.

"Don't tell me he's had his phone on airplane mode again?" She grumbles under her breath.

Out of the two (Wooyoung and Yeosang), the latter seems to be more knowledgeable about pets considering he had one, so that's why she tried calling him first.

The same time the heater resounded a ding, a deep voice speaks up from the phone.

"Hello?"

"Finally! I've been trying to reach you for a century now." Kyungmi says over the phone as she transfers the now heated liquid into a shallow metal bowl she earlier found in one of the kitchen's cabinets.

"Stop being overly dramatic. I was only in the shower for ten minutes."

Without seeing the boy's face, she knows he'd rolled his eyes at her.

"If you say sooo~ Ey, by the way I called for an important matter Sang."

"What is it?"

"Do you know any near veterenary clinics in your area? As much as I know, there's nothing near my place." Kyungmi asks as she places the phone tightly in between her ear and her left shoulder while both of her hands were busy preparing the milk.

"Dummy, there's google maps for a reason."

"Plus, why ask all of a sudden? Have you gotten yourself a pet Kyung? I thought you're too busy to have one?" Yeosang continues.

Kyungmi chuckles awkwardly before answering. "Not really a pet. See, I found a stray cat earlier by the bins so I decided to take it in with me because the poor thing seems to be in an awful condition. So will you help me?"

There was a short silence in the other line which made Kyungmi wonder if the boy was still there or if he had ended the call already.

"Sangie?"

She hears some shuffle before she finally hears the boy sigh.

"Sure. When do you want to go?"

Kyungmi's lips turned into a pout when she realized the sudden change in Yeosang's tone.

The latter probably missed Hetmon, his cat. But she didn't say anything as not to upset him even more.

"Hmm, how about tomorrow? Since it's a Sunday!" Kyungmi chimes.

"K, then. I'll pick you up tomorrow. Bye, Kyung-"

"Ah Yeosang wait!" She shouts before the male was able to end the call.

"What now?"

"Do cats drink powdered milk? Are they okay with that?"

"Oh my god Kyung, no they don't! Did you made it drink already?"

At the sound of Yeosang's panicked tone, Kyungmi's jaw dropped and she ended up looking helplessly at the prepared milk in front of her.

"No I didnt, thankfully...what should I let it eat then?"

"Thank goodness. Just water and maybe some left over meat would do. Is that all?"

"Yeah, thank you Sangie. Bye, goodnight!" Kyungmi replies and quickly ended the call.

She stares at the milk again and sighs. "All my efforts, turned to waste. Now what do I do with this milk?" She says sadly and blows her fringes out of her face.

"Yah, why aren't you eating?"

Kyungmi prepared water and meat for the black cat just like what Yeosang said earlier. But the cat just stayed snuggled up on the couch with the blanket that she prepared for it.

It's just been staring at her for the past minutes now, not moving, except for its tail that just kept swinging from left to right.

After a few more persuasions, she decided to give up and challenged herself to an eye contact battle with the feline.

"You have pretty purple eyes." She comments, lightly brushing the cat's fur. As she keeps doing it, the cat leans in to her touch and lightly purrs.

"Should I give you a name? Wait- I don't even know if you're a male or a female one.. How do you even check a cat's gender?" Kyungmi wonders. There she realized that she's not that knowledgeable when it comes to pets either.

"I'll be back okay?" She tells the cat before standing up and going to her room to get her phone.

"It says here; to find out whether a cat is a girl or boy, you have to lift the kitten's tail then check its opening- ooh this must be easy then!" Kyungmi announces as soon as she went out of her room after searching 'How to find out if a cat is a boy or a girl' with the help of her forever reliable bestie; Google.

She doesn't know if it was just her eyes playing with her, but she swears she saw the cat flinch after hearing what she said.

Kyungmi stares at the cat and back to her phone. She was thinking of following what the website said but then she remembers that the cat's wounded and injured, and it might get shocked when she dare tries to touch its tail. So the gender-checking might have to wait for tomorrow.

Kyungmi puts her phone on her back pocket and went back to the couch where the cat was laying comfortably.

A yawn escapes her lips as she sits down on the floor. She looks at the wall clock, just above them and saw that it's already past nine in the evening. It's time for her to have her beauty sleep.

"Do you want to stay here or do you want to come inside my room?" She whispers to the wounded animal, her hands finding its way back to its black fur.

The cat meows.

"Was that a yes or a no?" Kyungmi raises her eyebrow at the feline. The cat just stares at her and later on meows again.

"You're injured, but there's no guarantee that you're not escaping despite your condition. So it leaves me no choice but to take you to my room as well, if that's okay with you..."

Again, she was answered by another meow. Kyungmi chuckles at herself, finding it crazy how she's talking to the black cat as if it was a person. As if it could understand her.

She shakes her head and slowly wraps the blanket around the cat. Then she carries it with her like a baby to her room. The black feline purring in her hold.

"Let's get a good night's sleep, yeah?"
