A couple of days being confined in my room was pretty hard, but when I got used to it, it felt pretty normal. Now here I am, enjoying myself. I rocked myself back and forth in my rocking chair, just listening to the wind. Well, half listening to the wind, since the other half was listening to the news. In this house, everyone's room has a T.V. So even if I'm afraid of metal, which the T.V. just so happens to be made of, I must sadly comply and use it. To make it less scary for me, Uncle Timothy had surrounded the T.V. set with wood, and I guess I should be grateful for that. I sat back, and rocked myself harder. "Amber." Oh there's Dominique. "Come in." I said, and Dominique let herself in. She was carrying a tray that had my lunch for the day, and set it on the table at the foot of my bed. "Hey." I said, standing up. We both sat on the bed. When I looked at the tray, I was surprised to find that there were two dishes of Ceasar salad, and two other dishes of medium rare lamb chops. "I'm eating here. Is that okay?" Dominique asked. I giggled, but nodded.

"Only a few more hours until the Annual Earth Day, and oh, is the whole city in a ruckus!" The news reported in the T.V. "Oh hey, have you finished that book you borrowed from me?" I asked, eating another portion of salad with some lamb chops. "Almost. Haven't gotten around reading the last chapters, because of the preparations for Earth Day." Dominique said. "But, I have to tell you, I never would've thought that sabertooth tigers would rise from shadows and attack from out of nowhere like that!" Dominique added, her face lighting up with excitement. I guess it was easy to get her to like books. I looked to the T.V. as the news continued on about the city preparing for Earth Day. You're probably wondering what Earth Day is, are you? Back then, when Earth was still pretty stable, Earth Day, meant a certain day in a year, where everyone on the surface on the Earth must conserve energy. But nowadays, Earth Day meant a different significance.

Earth Day, is that one day, where the entire Earth celebrates its' continuous survival, through the use of mankind's technology. Every Sector, and every Area, cancels work and school. Then, everyone gathers in the cities where a mardi gras-like festival ensues and lasts for five days. Within that time, performers present special displays, like fireworks and whatnot. But the main course of the festival is that, there is always a mechanics display, and that is not for me. "Thanks. Lunch was good." I said. Dominique collected the plates and went back down to the kitchen. Since it was such a hot day, I decided to take a warm bath. I started the tub in my bathroom, and got a book to read. I probably stayed in there for about an hour. I got a towel, and drained the tub, then I went to get a dress. I chose a simple one. But then again, all of my dresses are pretty simple.

This one was a shade of light pink, with the sleeves tied up to my elbows. It was a bit off-the shoulder, but it wasn't that revealing. Especially when I wore my leather eyepatch. I looked out of my window. Already, the town was pretty quiet. Half of them must already be at the city. I sighed. It was pretty ironic feeling kind of sad. But ironic to what, I wonder? I looked on the city and towards the city walls. It was in the middle of the day, so the walls were set to a color of the bluest blue. But if I looked closely, it seemed like there was some sort of black smear on it. That's odd. What could've caused that? "Amber..." I suddenly jumped in place, after feeling a cold breath on my neck. I turned around and saw Cassidy. Oh no. What now? "What do you want?" I asked. A grin spread on her face, and I didn't like it one bit.

She closed in on me until I got pinned to the window. When she took a breath, something didn't smell right. She smelled...foul. "You know, I heard some rumors going on in town." She said. I tried ignoring her, but she held my chin firmly and made me face her. "Wanna hear it?" She asked. Again, I didn't say anything, so she went on. "I heard some guys saying that there's some hostility outside the walls.." No. Don't listen. Don't listen.. "Some G.U.N.S. were out monitoring the area outside the walls, and... it seems that...something attacked them.." She whispered. Lies. You're telling me lies. "You know what it was that attacked them?" Cassidy asked. I tried moving my foot, so as to try and escape from Cassidy's hold on me, but her foot was on the chain to my ankle, preventing me from escaping. "They were attacked... by..." "A ROBOT!" The moment she yelled that, she brought out something from behind her. It was a metal hand. And of course I screamed.

Cassidy grabbed me by the arm with her free hand and now pinned me to the floor. "It's just a hand, Amber. Don't be a baby..." She taunted, rubbing the metal hand against my face. "Nnnooo!!!" I yelled, trying to fight her off. "Cassidy, what the hell are you doing?!" Suddenly Dominique came into the room, and saw what was happening. Furiously, she sped towards us, and she managed to get Cassidy off of me. I frantically sat up, and Dominique kneeled to my side and wrapped her arms around me to calm me down. While she was doing that, Cassidy was having the time of her life, laughing like a fool. "You're friggin' insane." Dominique spat at her. Cassidy didn't even seem affected. After her fit, she stood up and left the room, waving the metal hand. When she was gone, a torrent of tears suddenly escaped my eyes, until I was sobbing like a child in Dominique's arms. What happened, just triggered memories, that I don't want to remember.

In the city, everyone was setting up the tables and decorations for the Earth Day celebration the coming night. Everyone was happily rejoicing. Everyone was so happy. They were going to once again celebrate the existance of technology and its' important role of sustaining Earth's life. Little did they know, that certain technologies, were making some preparations themselves.
