You know what you're doing. You've done this already. How hard can it be?
"David, let's go," yelled Boss, the head of our team. "Turnic isn't going to wait around all day." I got up and walked over to him. I knew the drill: our client had wanted this guy out of business since he was attracting his own customers. Wait, no, we aren't lawyers. No, we aren't rioters. Seriously, THOSE are you best guesses? We're assassins.
I had on my standard suit: a black business suit with three compartments each side. The normal equipment was at my disposal, such as the fiber wire and compression shoes. I looked up into the sky as we had finally come to our destination. The sun was above us and the blueness was simply captivating. The light glistened off the rims of my glasses. I could smell the swift breeze and felt the coolness of it. I stepped out into the September wind and looked back at the driver's tinted windows. Boss rolled them down and looked at me through his deep expression.
"Remember, we need this to needs to look like an accident. Jackson Enterprises will be on their way in approximately 34 minutes. Good luck, David." He rolled up the window and drove off. I stood there in the ruffled leaves and turned around to face the Turnic building. I looked at my watch: exactly 33 minutes and 47 seconds remaining.
I proceded to the building. There were two men in front.
"Name?" stated the first man. "Leonard Kinlit," I responded.
They moved past. The building was huge. I saw the reflection across the glass ontop of everything I saw from inside. I strolled to the elevator and adjusted my hat accordingly. I took a peep at the watch again: 32 minutes and 55 seconds and counting down. I got to the elevator and pressed floor 36. The door was about to close but a man's hand stopped it and rushed inside. I was a bit annoyed by this as he came in, quite flustered and anxious for something. He was breathing heavily and pressed floor 23. There was a still silence.
"Exciting day, isn't it?" he said. I looked at him and smirked. "Yes, it is, indeed," I replied.
"You know, I just proposed to my girlfriend today. I can't believe the day has finally come." He seemed overjoyed with this. "Congratulations," I said. "This day may actually pull some new surprises"
He must have taken this as a joke and began to laugh. He put his hand on my shoulder and could barely breathe. I smiled a bit and the door opened to floor 23. "Well, thanks stranger. Have a great day," he said. I nodded at him in approval and he got out. The door closed.
"Boss, kill," I said. The power went out and the fire alarm began to sound. I could hear the muffled screams of some of the employees. Heh, a little alarm will be nothing compared to what will happen next. Out of what I could distinguish, I could actually hear the man calling his fiance and saying he's going to meet up with her soon. I could hear him having trouble talking because of all the rushing people.
"Let's get to work," I said to myself. I grabbed my Polarity and Electrical Navigator (aka PEN) from my jacket and placed it on the door. The door dinged and I got out and scurried along with the rest of the people. I had gotten to the fire escape but it was overpacked. I turned around and saw some guards hearding the people downstairs. I smirked then put a horrified expression on my face.
"Please come with me! My wife is trapped!" I screamed with a hint of terror in my voice. The guard followed and I led him to the bathroom. "Where is she?" he said. He turned around and I punched him in the throat. He gagged and I turned him around. I took the fiber wire from my jacket, wrapped it around his neck, and turned so he was rested on my back. I could feel him struggling as his last breathes escaped. He finally gave up and I dumped his lifeless body ontop of the toilet. I took his uniform and proceeded outside of the bathroom. I flipped the "Out of Order" sign onto the door. I looked at my watch again: 28 minutes and 27 seconds. I needed to get my target now.
I weaved my way through the people and finally got to the "Security Only" checkpoint up front. I slipped through the people so nobody could check my face. I got into the room where it was empty. Not surprised because they need all the help they can get with all these people. I grabbed the security footage and stuffed them inside my jacket. I kept advancing to the next floors then got to the 36th floor. I walked up the staircase and saw two securtity guards in full suits. They stopped me and pushed me back a bit.
"This is a private sector," the left one said. He shoved me a bit. "You deaf? Leave."
I stood there with my eyes closed. I calmed my mind. The first punch came to my right.
First, begin demolition. Grab wrist and twist and gut shot. Next, weaken support. Turn to other and slap both sides of head, deafness. Third, assimilate base. Thrust kick into right guard's leg, shatter kneecap. Then, deconstruct beams. Twist left guards arms outwards and knee to gut. Two birds one stone. Knock head into right guard. Finally, trigger. Fiber wire around both heads. Clean wreckage. Knock out both legs. The left guard falls. The right coughs up blood. I put my hand onto his chin and the other onto his hair. "No, I'm not," I said. With a quick jolt, I cracked his neck and his body fell down the stairs with his partner. I brushed off my sleeve and walked into the room.
Turnic stood there looking at the window. On his desk was a file, a bottle of antidepressants, and a glass of water. The bottle was empty and he turned around. He was shocked to see me.
"Y-you?!?" he exclaimed. I nodded and said, "This matter isn't personal."
I grabbed him by his collar and shoved him against the glass. I left him there to stand and put my hat on the desk. He looked at me with extreme fear.
"Please, no!" he shouted. "I'll do anything!"
I closed my eyes and shoved all my energy forward. I kicked him and the glass shattered behind him. I heard his screams down. Then I heard a thud and a tire screach. I picked up my hat and dressed up back into my suit. I left the security tapes on his desk and walked out of the same door I came in through. I walked past the two dead guards and down the stairs. I peeped at my watch again: 2 minutes and 53 seconds left. I wove through the crowd and got to the front. I got to the street and saw the man from the elevator. He was with his fiance and they were hugging intensely. I walked past silently and saw the two guards from the front. They were talking to police. I saw the Boss' car roll up and I got in.
"Successful. Good work, David," said the Boss.
Kendra started the car and we drove off, hearing police sirens and wailing from the streets. At the time, I had felt bad about my actions but I remembered our motto:
"In death we were created, and in death we shall depart."
My name is David Hedge and this is my story.
