"Friends. One of the most important things in the world. But the difference between causal friends and close friends are most casual friends walk away. Close friends become family." That's exactly what Trent always said Liverpool was to him. Family.
——————————It's been a week since we received the news about my dad. He was getting weaker everyday although he was determined to prove that he wasn't, but mum was helping him with a lot of things.
I had explained the situation to Lucy and the documentary team along with Jurgen, who informed the rest of the staff for me. I felt bad for having lied to everyone for so long and knew they all had to know, including Trent's teammates.
I was pushing myself to complete as much of the documentary as I could with the help of Lucy. For someone who worked with a team, I always found it easier to do things myself but with everything that's happened recently I knew I need to learn to rely on others just like dad has too.
I adjusted the strap of my bag and I walked into Melwood with my head looking down at my phone running over today's schedule. The place was surprisingly quiet considering the boys weren't meant to be training any minute.
I brushed it off as I continued to the media room and headed inside with my head still looking down the at the little device in my hand.
I locked my phone once I finished reading the schedule and looked up to the sight of something sitting on my desk where I did most of my editing work.
There sat a large bouquet of red rose and a little white card could easily be spotted sitting in the middle.
I dropped my things on a near by table before walking towards them. The smell of fresh flowers was evident as I stopped and picked up the little white card.
'You'll never walk alone - love the LFC boys x'
I felt a tear fall from my eye onto my cheek as I smiled. Considering I had only been working here a few months, I had grown close with all of the staff here and the boys especially since the start of my relationship with Trent.
I tucked the white card back into the roses and wiped the tears from my eyes before making my way out of the media room and down the hallway.
After not seeing the boys out on the field through the glass doors leading to the pitches, I decided to check the gym thinking they'd be their prior to training.
Once again, I came up dry so I resorted to checking the dressing room and if they weren't there I had no idea where any of them where because all of their cars were outside when I arrived 5 minutes ago.
I used my hand to push open the door to the dressing room but the silence I heard from outside was throwing me off the thought of them being inside.
"Surprise." The team shouted as I walked in causing me to jump. I honestly didn't expect them to be inside because of how quiet they were.
"Idiots." I exclaimed as I rested my hand over my heart which was now beating very loudly.
"Hey. These idiots bought you flowers." Robbo reminded me causing me to laugh.
"I know. And I'm very grateful. That's why I'm here, to say thanks. It means a lot guys." I assured them as I felt the tears prick in my eyes once again.
"Group hug." Gini yelled and suddenly I was surround by 25 footballers, feeling like I was being crushed. But in a good way. I knew they all cared and would be there for me when I needed them and that meant a lot with everything going on right now.
"You okay?" Trent asked me as they boys stepped away to find me crying slightly.
"Yeh. I'm fine. Just all hitting again I suppose." I replied as I used my fingers to wipe away the tears as Trent pulled me into a hug.
"Ew PDA." Ox spike causing Trent and I to laugh along with the boys. He was trying to lighten the mood and I was grateful for it.
"I'll give you PDA." I smiled before placing my hands on either side of Trent's face and pulling him down to me so our lips connected.
"Ew!" The boys teased causing Trent and I to pull apart and laugh. It was moments like this I realised why Trent loved this club so much. They were just like one massive family and we're always there for you no matter what.
