AN/ this is a story I wrote for school based off the story the unwinding, but I thought id share as I need to update. so enjoy!

"Dahlia, grab me a pen from the desk in the study." my father

"Which one?" I screamed back

"The silver one your brother gave me"

Annoyed, I got up and walked from my room into the study. I looked in all the pen holders and under every paper on the mahogany desk. It wasn't there so I opened the first drawer and picked up a yellow folder and found the pen underneath. I grabbed the pen and went to put the folder back when I noticed that it was labeled cruise. So me being the curious person I am, opened it. I know what you're thinking, that's your father's stuff, mind your own business, curiosity killed the cat, and you'd be right if that was the whole saying. Yes it was my father's stuff and curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought it back. Inside the folder, I found three tickets for a cruise along with passports for my parents and younger brother, so I decided to look around the drawer thinking mine had fallen out of the folder.

"Dahlia, I need it now." my father announced.

"Coming," I responded walking down the stairs to the living room. I handed him the pen and hurried upstairs to continue my investigation. Once I reentered the study I moved dad's briefcase and found an unwinding packet underneath.

"What the hell!" I thought. I opened the first page and was shocked at what I found.

Childs name: Dahlia Anne Mclane

Age: 17

Reason for unwinding: constantly failing classes, rebels against authority, and sneaks out. Dyed hair and tattoo without permission. Arrested for shoplifting multiple times.

Any health conditions: no

Blood type: O-

I finished reading all the procedures and came to the final page where both of my parents had signed and where someone and stamped approved in large blood-red letters.

"Why would they have me unwound? yea I've misbehaved and my grades aren't great but... don't they love me?" I glanced at the paper and saw the pickup date.

"Tomorrow!" I gasped. I quickly put the items back in the drawer, just as mom called me down for dinner.

Dinner was the same as always except today I wasn't listening to mom and dad talk about the news. No, I was formulating a plan, I was leaving. Most would call it running away, which is illegal, but I tried to think of it as saving my life. By the time everyone had finished eating and the dishes were clean and put away, my plan was ready.

I hurried up to my room and closed the door. Once inside I started getting everything ready, I grabbed my black backpack and put a couple of black outfits inside. I opened my bottom dresser drawer and scooped all of my snacks into the back. I quickly checked the clock and it read ten-thirty so I slipped the bag under my bed and pretended to be asleep just as mom peeked into my room. She closed the door and I hopped up, standing on my bed. I felt around the ceiling until I heard a click and a large wad of cash fell on my bed. I put the cash in the bag and zipped it up. I went to my closet and put on a pair of black jeans, my black veil brides t-shirt, and a black hoodie. I grabbed my black beanie and the book bag and opened my window.

Looking down from the window I sighed not the first time I jumped from here to the ground but I really missed my tree. I hit the ground and rolled hoping to save my ankles and started running. I didn't know where I was going. I Knew there was a group of kids who escaped the unwinding but no one knew their whereabouts so I could only hope to find them before the police found me.

I had made it about two cities and was sitting down in Mcdonald's eating breakfast when I saw my picture on the tv saying that I was an escaped convict.

"Typical," i thought, "they always called runaways convicts just another trick to 'protect' the people.

Just as I was leaving an officer walked in and saw me. I didn't think I couldn't, I ran. The officer yelled at me to freeze and called for backup on his walkie-talkie, but I just kept running and before I knew it I was being followed by seven or eight police and a helicopter. P.E was my strongest subject in school and I played a lot of sports but even I couldn't keep this up much longer. I was ahead so I took several sharp turns. I hoped to lose them but I didn't I came out of an alley and was surrounded by cop cars. There was one opening but I'd never make that before they shot me down. I was about to give up when a midnight blue sports car came barreling straight towards me. I thought I was toast but it stopped right beside me and the door opened not knowing what else to do. I jumped in the passenger seat and the driver tore off. I looked at the driver to thank them when I realized it was Ashton Lane. he was a boy from my school who was supposed to be unwound but he disappeared without a trace when he was seventeen, two years ago and here he was saving me. We sped off through the town until we came to a dark tunnel he kept driving not saying a word. He came to a split in the tunnel and drove until we came to a dead end.

"That's it," I thought, "I'm as good as dead." But Ashton, clearly seeing the terror on my face smirked and slammed his fist on the horn three times. The wall opened and he sped through and it closed right as the cops turned the corner.

"Excuse me, mister Lane?" I asked

"The names Ash doll."

" Okay, Ash, what the hell is going on?"

"Well first of all I just saved you" He replied

"Yea, thanks"

"Second the rebellion wants you." My jaw dropped. I'd been on the run for two weeks and the rebellion wants me? This is bad. I wanted protection, not this. What am I supposed to do?
