Chapter two

Is there hope?  

The car ride was mostly quiet, but for the time Daryl said how cute Zane was when he is sleeping. We pulled up to a prison with three gates around it. I thought to myself this looks safe. A girl in her 20s was by the gate and opened it. I watched Daryl get out and signaled for me to get out. I got out holding Zane so he didn't wake up. The short brown haired girl looked confused and said " Who might these people be?" Her country accent was very sweet but stubborn at the same time. " This is Jazzy and Zane. I found them in a old cabin in the woods and decided to take them back here" Daryl said his voice started to get a little irritated. She nodded while a man came out. He looked rough and kinda mad. " DARYL WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE BRING RANDOM PEOPLE IN HERE" The man screamed. Zane had woken up by that time and looked hungry so I grabbed my bag and pulled out a granola bar and handed one to him. The brown haired girl looked at the granola bars with watering eyes so I pulled another out and simply put my hand out to give it to her. She smiled than grabbed it looking happy. " Maggie why would you take that we don't know these two people. They could have poisoned it for all we know" The man looked at me with a stank eye. I frowned and stepped back a step. Maggie I think her name is said " Rick come on they look harmless and she handed one to the little boy I am pretty sure she's not trying to poison the little boy to". I smiled and Zane climbed off my shoulders and said " Hi my name is Zane and that is my mommy you can call her Jazzy. We are not trying to hurt you we just was listening to this man who said we were going on an Adventure" he said pointing to Daryl. Daryl and Maggie both smiled and Rick I think his name was looked a little more calm. " Alright buddy come back up here" I said looking at Zane. He did as I said and climbed back up on my shoulders.

"Alright they can stay, but did you ask them the questions" Rick said looking at Daryl. Daryl noded and began walking away. I got my bag out of the car and zanes too and started following Rick who lead me inside and introduced us to everyone. They all were nice besides this one boy who just gave me a look of why are they even here, His name was Carl, I think he is Rick's son, but I dont really care,but might I say he is hot. What the hell am I thinking you can't like a boy during the end of this world. He is a jerk too. I am quickly pushed out of my thoughts by rick telling me that I will be sharing a cell with Zane. I nod and put down our bags on the bottom bunk. Zane is playing with some of the other kids in the huge plot of land infront of the prison. I start to unpack our stuff, and put the stuff in the dresser on the right of the room. Carl walks by the cell and stops and looks at me. He just stares at me. " Take a picture it will last longer" I mumble but sadly he hears and mumbles under his voice " Maybe I will". I smirk and got up and walked to the door and look at him. I look at him for a minute and then pull back the black curtain in his face. I could tell he stood there for a minute confused before walking away. I burst out laughing and i think he heard me beause he yelled something but I was not paying attention. I changed shirts before walking out and started walkng to find Rick so I can ask him if I could do anything to help out around here. I hate feeling useless. I hear some crying in one of the cells. As I enter the cell I see a baby. It reminds me of my baby sister. I took her out and started rocking her. She calmed down and fell asleep in my arms.I stood there for a moment before I started singing lightly to her.

Then out of the corner of my eye I see someone standing there...
