Ch.33 – Anna

"What happened that night you babysat my brother? Who did that to you?" he whispered.

Oh....

"Uhh... " I muttered with my head hanging low.

As my brain was filled with so many thoughts, I felt a warm hand come on top of my right hand. I look up and see Liam's big, captivating eyes. His eyes held warmth and tenderness.

"If you're not ready to tell me, I totally understand."

I need to tell him. I want to tell him.

"My mother... she came home later than usual. Whenever she would go out, she'd just stay over at a friend's place or just stay out all night drinking and doing drugs and what not. That night though, it wasn't like that. She came back." I sighed roughly.

Liam started to rub my tensed back.

"It was around eleven at night when your brother and I were watching some Disney movies. Whilst watching the movie, I heard some shuffling noise coming from the entrance, which happened to be my mother trying to get it. But instead of coming through the door like any normal person would, she was trying to get in through the door that happened to be the entrance for a dog. She was clearly drunk. Anyway, as soon as I saw my mother doing whatever she was trying to accomplish, I told your brother to go to my room and to stay there at all cost.

I went toward the end of the hallway, heading to the entrance and opened the door for my mother. When she realized what she was doing, she got out of the small door and got up. Sadly, she wasn't the only one at the entrance."

I stopped for a brief moment to catch my breath.

"There was a man behind my mother. I've never seen him in my life, so I thought he was just someone she met at the club or something. I calmly told my mother to come in and head to bed but surprisingly the guy behind her came in as well. I slowly closed the door as the guy finally made his way in. He was tall and built, tattoos plastered all over his arms. He looked intimidating.

I told my mother that I was going to sleep and mentioned for her to just behave. But with that came a response from the tattooed man. He started asking as to why I, the daughter, would ever even think of telling my mother what to do. I honestly was just telling what I usually tell her every night before I go to bed, which is what I told him. He took it the wrong way and just... just started shouting at me. I don't even remember what he said; I was too busy thinking about your brother in my room and what could possibly happen if the tattooed man were to go in. What caught my attention back what was going on was what he told my mother to do..."

I held my breath before continuing.

After a few seconds of holding in my breath, I breathed back out.

"He began tell her to punish me for talking to her disrespectfully. But not the 'normal' type of punishment of just grounding me and such... he meant to punish me physically. Now my mother would always stop herself before doing something too drastic, even when she's drunk and/or high. Not this time. She just stood there, with a blank expression plastered onto her face. Next thing you know... she just starts yelling out how bad and worthless of a daughter I am. After she rant for two minutes, she slapped me."

I shut my eyes, trying to calm myself down. I could feel my throat starting to tense up. Liam noticed and pulled me into his arms.

"You can stop," he whispered into my ear.

"I can't. It's too late to back out."

I pulled away from Liam enough to see his face. He was worried. He felt guilty for bringing this up. I can tell.

"After she slapped me, she just went into shock. We were both surprised at her sudden action. Her face was priceless. She kept looking at her hand multiple times whilst looking back at me. Out of nowhere, my mother was shoved out of the way. The tattooed man came towards me and threw me against the floor and began to punch me without mercy. After multiple punches were blown at me, he started to kick me a few times in my torso. As he kept on beating me, I could see my mother just standing there, watching a strange man beat me to a pulp.

After soo much beating, I managed to pass out. Your brother was smart though. He waited an hour or two before coming out and checking up on me." I laughed.

"He woke me up by spilling cold water on my face. I thanked him countless of times. I hugged him for the pain that I felt... A few minutes after fixing myself up, I took him to bed and just slept with him in my room. That's it. Not much, huh."

Finally. I finally told him.
