This book is basically a spin off/sequel to Thug Waters if you haven't read that I would recommend you go read it. But you don't need to read it in order to read this book. 9/10 the places that need to be filled in will be filled in so you won't be completely lost.
If you love reading though I would recommend you read the first book.
